Seriously. In my day, I got my ass whooped with whatever mom had around her. I can't count the times i had to dodge flying heels, shoes, brooms, coat hangers, etc. From the crap I did and deserved to be beat. It all depends on what the situation was about.

 

 

If he was disciplining the child and got carried away that's a whole different story. If he literally beat a child for NO reason, that is different.

 

sounds to me like you're normalizing harmful behavior and justifying it to itself… this is how domestic abuse of all forms survives, cyclically and generationally.

I didn't claim he said it's OK to beat the crap out of a child. I said he thinks it's ok to beat a kid for a reason. Which is what he said.

Child abuse is no laughing matter. It's horrible.

That being said, I see nothing wrong with using a switch on a child. I got plenty when I was little and I learnt valuable lessons.

I've never taken a belt or a switch to my kids.

 

I have used my hand, but only in the moment that they were in danger, as in walking out in traffic. A pat on the butt to scare them a little about it.

I had to go get mine cut it from the tree and I better not come back with a small twig.   Stings like a sob but I see no issue with it.

 

 

My mom made me do that too. I'd take my mom with a switch any day to my dad with a belt. And yeah I have issue with all of it. I'm not mad at them for it. They didn't know any better it's how they were treated as children. But there are better ways, I don't hit kids. I don't hit anyone.

I think I'd die if AP beat me with a switch lol. But I'd assume he wouldn't hit his kid as hard as he could hit me
