I believe in spanking and whooping but if you have to even consider going to a doctor afterwards then it's very clearly abuse.

Reading through some of the comments the differences between cultures really stand out. I'm African American and I don't know one other African American parent who doesn't discipline their children by spanking/whopping. Not to say that's a good thing.

Hacky black comedians always touch on the difference between how the races do things as far as discipline, I didn't know how true it was until reading this thread.

And the people I know don't like whopping their kids, they just happen to believe it works. Something the old folks use to say is "I'm whopping your butt now so the policeman won't throw it in jail later". Lol.

Anyway I would be interested to know other forms of discipline your children, and I mean for older kids, like preteens. For small things, taking away their phones or grounding them is easy enough, but what if they were bullying kids at school or something more serious? Who knows...

Also as a follower of Christ, I cringe every time I see fellow Christians on here doing their thing...

For one, you can't argue someone into Jesus' arms. It doesn't work like that. I've seen plenty of threads in the tinderbox and no one has been persuaded for Christ yet, that I'm aware of.

Two, being wrong is okay, even when you know you're not. Sometimes Christians want to be right or win an argument more than they want the person their ministering to draw nearer to God.

If it takes being wrong or losing a debate for the person I'm talking to, to open their heart, even just a smidget, I'll take it every time.

I would trade Greg Hardy and a second to the Vikes for AP. I don't condone what he did but AP was obviously beat like that as a child and he believes it's ok.

He had no idea that kid was even his until like weeks before the kids death.  That doesn't excuse the way you talked about the death of an innocent kid.  I'm a pretty callous dude, but if you can't see how your comments were fuged up then you GTFO.

He's 4 years old...I'm ok with a spanking if it's absolutely neccassary. There's nothing a 4 yr old could have done that would require him being beaten bloody. Just a way to get out of parenting and actually communicating and connecting with ur child. Zero tolerance policy in regards to any child abuse. They should bury him under the jail
