National Interest in Hardy just ended....

I used to "get the switch" all the time. Literally, would have to go pick it out, and if it wasn't big enough, my step-dad would go pick a bigger one. That sh!t hurt!! I know that parents discipline differently, but this is one method that needs to end.

That going to get your own switch poo is psychological torture.

ehh, i'm not saying that it's rigidly deterministic… being abused doesn't just automatically mean you're going to abuse everyone else the same way. however it very clearly plays a determining factor in the majority of cases.

behavior is learned and repeated.

How are you defining abuse? Corporal Punishment in itself is not abuse IMO but I agree that people who grew up getting spankings are more likely to give spankings.

But i know people who were borderline abused that grow up to be borderline abusive, and others who grew up determined they would not do to others what was done to them.

To the overall issue of spanking in general. I said this in another recent thread about this, I think every kid is different.

I know, that I needed spankings. I was a trouble maker and a button pusher for as long as I can remember.

I was one of those kids that if you told me not to do something, it only made me more curious and I would actually be more likely to do it.

I always say spanking is like war. It should always be the last resort, but sometimes you have to do it for the safety and we'll being of your child.

BTW I have no children

I believe every child is different, I can't see myself every spanking my daughter but I think it can be affective if done the right way. So if your child doesn't something that requires discipline what do you do? Or do you just hope enough praise will deter him from doing anything wrong?

We do a lot of rewarding and praise for good behavior and behavior that we find inappropriate we explain why and take away privelges. It defenietly takes more patyience, time and effort than spanking.

So getting hit made you stop? Or did you just keep doing it? You don't think other methods could have worked as well. No playing with friends. No video games, TV or taking a favorite toy away?

I have plenty of reverence. Just not for someone/thing that demands I fear it.

Also there's the pettiness. I could live my life closer to the Christian ways than anyone in history with the exception that I don't believe in god & I go to hell. A guy who rapes & murders hundreds of people says "I'm soory Jesus forgive me!" right before he dies & he gets into the cloudy, harp place...

Yeah, not worth it.

there is only one to give reverence to my friend but your belief is your belief. No one can make you believe however many can persuade you. btw screaming "I'm sorry Jesus" before you die will not bring forth a disney ending. lol... its going to rough in the end and is already in motion... even people that have accepted the Lord Jesus in their lives but not do his work can still be in question. Yes some Grandmas are in question! Living a true Christian lifestyle is harder than one can imagine. Looking at the surface it seems one could do this or that  but when God tests and stretch you in HIS purposes, discomfort occurs in your life and reality sets in that you must lean on him and not your own misunderstanding. Going to church does not make you a Christian, nor being nice, nor simply reading the bible. There is much humiliation that comes with it: dealing with those that reject your tasks that YOU are required to handle, you experience the hatred given to Jesus' as you come to understand they hate HIM not you yet remain willing to do HIS will, and release yourself from wickedness as you grow. One must be on fire for HIM regardless of who tries to put it out!  Jesus confirmed it in Rev 3, "15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Thus, "Jesus save me!" before I die is a total fail. lol

PEACE

I read he just whooped the kid with a switch, nothing none of us hasn't had happen to us before as children

media is ridiculous... nevertheless deactivation is overboard in this situation imo. I guess if he wasn't they'd want him released. I'm starting to think all this cut/deactivation is about fantasy point. smh

AP's case doesn't look good on the surface, but I'm inclined to wait for more.  See what the actual intent behind the lashings was before I go faux outrage.

no need to get outrages at all, this stuff happens all the time. the media is buggin'...
