Apparently ESPN's Outside the Lines did a hit piece on Greg Hardy this morning

See, the key by law though is he is not guilty, his guilty sentence is "suspended" pending a trial by jury in a superior court.

He is not guilty until after a superior court ruling or even a higher court if he loses and they fight it harder, on grounds like jury tampering due to media influence. I think he will win a a jury trial unless they jury is hand picked by the state to specific take him down. Even if he loses I don't see him being cut, or suspended indefinitely. Maybe cut after the season if the trial does take place in november. He will eat his six games and what ever punishment Jerry has in store for him. He's really a mute point come March so...

I see your point and you obviously know more about the local laws and process than myself admittedly.

Yet you are missing my point, which concerns why the media is focusing in on him. Few care that the conviction was "suspended". Most see that not so much as a question to his guilt, but as just a process that is natural in an appeal.

If the man who was accused of, and convicted of doing the same to your own sister, daughter, cousin, mother..etc had his own conviction "suspended" pending appeal...would it HONESTLY change anything in your mind about what happened?

This is what I think the media is harping on. Yes you are correct they do not care about the process...but it doesnt change the fact that he was at one point "convicted". That is all the media needs in light of the Rice tape to strike up a storm.

Yet how many people get a jury trial? Does the guy driving down to the game busted with a bag of weed get a jury trial? The guy who drives drunk doesnt get a jury trial, nor the guy caught drag racing on the interstate.

Point is, the law is handed out and accepted in MANY cases when a jury is not present. To say that Hardy isn't guilty until tried by his peers is the same as saying everyone else is not guilty until determined by their peers.

Yet we both know that doesnt happen..and as I said, right or wrong..the man was convicted in a court of law. The press sees that, which I believe is the reason why his name keeps coming up

Possession of marijuana or any controlled substance isn't determined by Family Court/Domestic proceedings in NC.  It's a different thing COMPLETELY!

People need to flood the ESPN Ombudsman Robert Lipsythe if they really want to do something to keep these hacks from regurgitating factual errors over and over to the point that they become the "truth" in the case of Greg Hardy.  If we really believe he is innocent until proven guilty and recognize that the court system in NC is just as nuanced and different than the other 49 states, then people need to speak.  You can tweet at him, email him, whatever.  He seems like a stand-up guy from the pieces I've read about him.  I mean OTL is supposed to be the bastion of journalism left at ESPN where they truly investigate.  Bob Ley seems to have lost control of that show to execs and producers that want ratings, ratings, and more ratings (read: money).  It's a shame really.

And for the record, I don't know what happened in that apartment and frankly I don't care anymore.  I'm not in a position to punish Hardy if he did anything or Holder if she lied.  I just hate to see the Panthers get railroaded and Big Cat get accused of covering up for Hardy.  Anybody who knows the Panther's history would know his sensitivity to any player misconduct.  And now that is all.

I agree with how you explain the media is taking this story, but the major flaw is that none of it matters because the Judge clearly wasn't going to side with Hardy regardless and Holder's story is about to get blown to pieces when a real court takes over..

These media things just waste me too much time...

•••Sent from my couch while fuging the Saints•••

no poo. I haven't been paying attention to any of it. until the Panther FO says something different Hardy will be playing all season, so listening to people with agendas means nothing to me but more clutter in my head and there is already enough poo in there as it is...

I just posted this in another thread: I hate Greg Hardy. Most selfish, consuming, self-absorbed Panther I can think of. I have trolled him on social media before. But I'm defending him all the way on this one. Beyond even letting the legal system do its thing, I don't think Greg Hardy did it. I think Nicole made the majority of it up.

That my friend is what being an American is all about.
