NFL weekly picks

The issue will coming out strong on both sides of the ball and essentially taking away Megatron with a double team wherever he goes on the field.

Every team the Lions played last year said the same thing. Even missing two games, and being injured for half the season, he finished the year with 1,492 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 106.6 yds/gm. You're not going to stop Calvin Johnson by throwing more people at him. You negate him by pressuring Stafford.

And if Stafford cant just throw it up looking for a bailout he is much less effective.

This will be the key for you guys. It pains me to say this, but historically, the key to beating the Lions is not stopping the offense, but forcing it to make mistakes.

Detroit's defense should be beatable, we just have to make sure we don't get behind early or let them in the game because we don't score any points.

Agreed. Detroit's secondary (even last year, but to a lesser extent) wasn't leaned on to keep them in games because of the pressure the front 7 generated. If you can neutralize Suh, Fairley, Ansah, Levy, Tulloch, etc. then you are free to expose the corners and safeties.

From an unbiased standpoint, the Lions @ Panthers matchup picks on ESPN seem the most out of place of all the picks.  All but two of them picked the Lions to win on the road against a 12-4 team with the #2 defense from 2013?  And it's not like Carolina looked bad in Week 1 ...by the way looked every bit as good as it did last year WITH their backup QB.

I'm not saying their is an irrational hatred of the Panthers in the sports media, but there is an irrational hatred of the Panthers in sports media.
