My wife was flying back from her Dad's funeral that day.  I spent several nerve wracking hours listening to every rumor, and waiting for some word about her plane.  Eventually I found out that the plane was in Winnipeg Canada as it was the closest airport when the FAA made them all land.  Took her 4 days to get home from Winnipeg.  Two days to wait to catch a flight to Detroit, half a day waiting to find out if she would be able to fly from Detroit home, then a day and a half in a rental car that her and a few other passengers she got to know during the ordeal,  rented and drove to Knoxville Tn, where I was finally able to meet up with her.

I was in 8th grade. Lived in LA at the time so I was still asleep when the first tower was hit.

Parents woke me up, and I don't why I found this odd, but it was one of the brightest mornings ever. Just absolutely blinding...

When I got to school, the general sentiment was still somewhat of ignorance, thinking this was just an accident. But before my first class started, the second plane hit and it was pretty obvious then that sh1t was going down.

i was a freshman in high school and heard somebody say something like "hey did you hear what happened in new york?" when i was walking down the hall to my first class.

i got in and they had the TV on.  of course by that point most of the channels had been taken over to cover what was going on.  i remember seeing the second plane hit live.  the rest of the day was mostly just discussion of how this was the start of world war III and jesus was about to return.

Junior in H.S. During Econ, we had it on the tv. Prof came in and turned it off. We caught the 2nd plane's impact live and he thought it was replay so he clicked it off. When he turned it back on for the rest of class, I went to call relatives in NY. All okay, but day is ingrained.

I was 15 and sitting on the couch in the living room playing video games waiting to go to a doctors appointment I had, and my mom came down the stairs telling me to turn on the news because a airliner just crashed into the world trade center, and while watching that I saw the live video of another plane crashing into it, was the second most surreal moment of my life.

I was 20 and was at the doctor's office with my wife... she was my girlfriend then... We heard people talking about what had happened and turned the radio on on the way home. I had classes later that morning that got cancelled, but we all kinda congregated there and tuned in and talked about what was going on. It really felt like we were under attack. Afternoon classes were also cancelled.

I was totally absorbed with the coverage for days and felt terrible. Like PhillyB said, I wanted to kill them all.

Now, I look back on it today with more questions than answers, and can't help but feel even more dejected in some respects.

I heard about it on the web, at first, on a football bulletin board.  :)  Then I went to CNN, then CNN shut down and I drove to Best Buy to find a TV. I couldn't believe that the TV area wasn't packed with people trying to do the same thing I was (get information). Some people were just walking around shopping.  Talk about surreal.
