Smitty may be even more pissed than we thought (Panthers related)

He said he was going to retire after the season.

Bullshit.  He was on local AM radio every week last year and specifically and repeatedly said he was here for the stats from here on out to hopefully make the HOF.  Also said he had no desire to assist and did not want any other WR that would assist a young WR that would take his place.

The "retire after this season" is revisionist history made up by Steven (I did that on purpose) and can be easily proven if you want to dig through the filth that was the Marc James era on WFNZ.

Hope Thomas Davis knocks him TFO.

"The only people who knew were my close friends and my wife,'' Smith said. "This year was actually going to be my last year in Carolina. I was going to retire. I was done. I had been waking up every day about 3 a.m. and wrestling with some things in my quiet time.

"I finally decided and made the commitment to my family. I told them, 'I'm done. I don't think I can do it much longer. My knee was sore and I knew all the work I had put into my career and what it would take. I came to terms with it, that this year was going to be my last year ever playing football.''

not as much as people like to poo on players like kevin green, sam mills, lamar lathon, mushin muhammed, eric davis,  wesley walls, stephen davis, and john kasay by pretending smitty and peppers are the only great players to ever don the carolina uniform

and all of them ended up cut.  some less ceremoniously than others, like delhomme

the worst thing about the steve smith cut is i have now realized that most panther fans are actually smitty fans and need to go ahead and break down and buy his ravens uniform and quit watching the panthers forever

That's such a weak argument. Oh, by giving Smitty and Pep their due as arguably the best players in franchise history, a person is shitting on every other player that has donned a Panthers uniform?   Please, dude.  You need to stop.

Not only are you discounting Pep's and Smitty's production as Panthers on the field (the bulk of which has put them in Hall of Fame conversation), but more importantly you are trying to discount the way that many in the Huddle have talked negatively about them once they and the Panthers parted ways.  If you can't see that, then you're blind or closing your eyes.  All of the people that you mentioned are pretty much universally respected for their accomplishments (notwithstanding that the bulk of the careers of some were outside of Charlotte), and the contributions that they made to the organization.
