Smitty may be even more pissed than we thought (Panthers related)

you ever had a job for a long time and lost your edge at it, and a fresh start re-energized you?

similar to that.   you probably still do your job better than most people there, but you don't go about it with the same sort of energy when it was fresh and new.

only now we're talking about a star athlete that had a hurney contract while on the decline.   and he has been on a slow decline for many years now.

I apologize you are right. I jumped the gun thinking that this was another Steve Smith had a catch so let's make a thread, thread.

This is absolutely Panther related because of what he said to the camera.

I will always love the guy, but fug Steve Smith for this. He acts like such a victim. He wasn't the team first player that just got railroaded like he always makes himself out to be. He brought his cut partially on himself.

Haha it's cool, and I understand because there's been a bajillion pointless redundant Steve Smith threads this offseason.  I couldn't help but post this after seeing it thought because for the first time ever, we're the ones on the other side of the Smitty trash talk.

I also thought it was a pretty interesting look into his mindset this year.  Someone said it earlier, but that game is probably going to be his Super Bowl.  He's old, yeah, but we (better than anyone) know how crafty and dangerous he can be and there's no doubt he's laying everything on the line for that game.  A wounded dog is the most dangerous.  Plus stuff like this just makes week 4 all that more interesting.

:ss:

Just keep Norman away from him plz.  I don't want Meangelo Hall episode 2 to happen against us.

This reminds one of DWill haters.

"If he didn't break that 49 yard TD run he'd have sucked Sunday!!1!111!!!111!1"

I was pulling for him to do well.  That is how I noticed he only had 3 yds.   Give him props for doing a veteran move but he isn't like the old Smitty that can get open.  Every time Flacco escapes the pocket S. Smith isn't going break a 80 yd TD.

He may have an axe to grind with Gettleman and the Panthers but he has/is rubbing the fans who supported him all those years the wrong way by the way he is talking.  Not just in this vine but also his comments on Twitter to fans and such.  He is one of my favorite Panthers of all-time like a lot of you guys but he is losing/lost any class he built up after the practice incidents earlier in his career.  He more than anyone should know the NFL is a business....grow the fug up and be grateful that you have the God given athletic ability to play a professional sport for a living.

Nailed it. This exactly the case IMO. If you think he'd have the same fire this year if he was here I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

i admit i don't have a direct source (and i'm too lazy to look it up) but he'd talked about just sticking around for a few years to rack up stats. the fact that steve smith of all people said that is incredibly telling.

I wouldn't look too much into it. The dude is always on, it's his nature (this is the most pissed off I've ever seen him in ten plus years though).

His last year here he seemed like his normal self to me, with the "Ice Up Son" and talking poo after any routine catch. It didn't show up in the stats though obviously but he was always chippy.

It's Panther related because Smitty is directly referencing us, and sort of suggests his whole mindset this year is proving a point to the entire Panther nation (more specifically Gettleman)... especially our upcoming game right around the corner.

Isn't a thread usually made when a player from another team mentions us, you know, "bulletin board material"?  Just so happens it's Steve Smith this time.

Oh, nooooo, let's strike Steve Smith's name from the Huddle because it's Steve Frickin' Smith!

I swear in all my years of being a fan of the NFL, I have never seen fans do the Jekyll-Hyde turnabout like some Huddlers. First it was Pep. Now it's Smitty. The vocal yokels seem to take pride in shitting on the two best players in franchise history for whatever reason that they can muster.
