Smitty may be even more pissed than we thought (Panthers related)

And you call yourself a fan? The greatest Panther of all time to this point blatantly calls out Gettleman and verifies the speculation that circulated these boards for months after his release and your response is "whatevs". I hate Gettleman now more than ever.

Edit: if he felt this way then and still felt that upset on Sunday, just think about how that locker room felt all offseason. As players, they have no choice but to move on with who they've got, but I guarantee you that Players from our locker room are texting him all kinds of props for doing what they can't do. Telling off Dave Gettleman.

Why do you hate Gettleman? All he's done since he's been here is put a winning product on the field.

I agree with letting him walk.

KB's accelerated development has been well worth it.

It's possible that KB has had "accelerated development" because Steve Smith isn't on the roster. It's also possible that maybe, just maybe, KB is better than Dwayne Jarrett, Brandon LaFell, Joe Adams, Ryne Robinson, Kealoha Pilares, David Gettis, who are the only WRs we have drafted since 2007. He's also the only first round talent WR we've drafted since Rae Carruth in 1997.

So you can't blame Smith for the Panthers not developing Wide Receivers when they have a pretty clear history of neglecting the position until the year they axed him.

That's like blaming Jordan Gross because we don't have depth at Offensive Tackle now.

The Raven's didn't even win.

Glad Smith Sr is proud of himself.

Yup

The ravens lost the opener like the panthers have historically dropped openers. But I guess smith can walk around with his head held high because he got 100 yards in a losing effort. Moral victories and so on....

Damn. I believe LaFell is the only one in the league right now.

Come on, Jeremy. Don't change the subject. We have not seriously addressed the Wide Receiver corps for almost a decade. We constantly trotted out aging journeymen and scrub rookies to be Smith's wing man, and then you blame him for the lack of development of our Wide Receivers. It's not like they've left Carolina and gone on to bigger and better things. The issue has been talent, and KB is the first talented WR we've produced since we first got Smith.

Alls I's sayin is, don't blame Smith for front office failure.

Comparing Jordan Gross, who only ever positively encouraged his fellow linemen to Steve Smith who mostly belittled them is probably not your best argument.

You dodged the main point of the argument.  Like I have always said, the two weren't mutually exclusive.  And even though you may believe that they were, others don't.

All I am saying is that KB's accelerated development which stemmed from KB being the obvious favorite in OTA's, Camp, and Preseason would not have happened with Smith here. To think that it would is just silly. Smith would see KB as his competition, not his teammate, as he did with every other receiver on the roster.
