Smitty may be even more pissed than we thought (Panthers related)

2007 - 2nd round - Dwayne Jarrett

- 4th round - Ryne Robinson

2010 - 3rd round - Brandon LaFell

- Armanti Edwards

2011 - 5th round - Kealoha Pilares

2012 - 4th round - Joe Adams

Starting in 2005, those are all the wide receivers the Panthers have drafted. You can make a valid argument that Hurney just flat out missed when drafting wide receivers, but in the cases especially of Jarrett, LaFell and Adams, it's not like these guys were scrubs coming out of college. Who knows what influence Smith had on these guys good or bad, but when you attempt (however feebly) to address the need for the future at wide receiver for 8-9 years and you wind up with nothing, it does suggest a trend that perhaps goes beyond management, especially given how well Kelvin has performed.

LoL

So if not for the busted play (x clown) against the Rams to ; oh wait he was a Panther then, so he beat the CB riiight? It's only a busted play if he's a Raven. I forgot that most of this board adopted the no loyalty to Steve the second Dave cut him.

That was ten years ago and Smitty was in his prime.  He was a great player for us......but the key word is "was."    If you want to be real about that play any NFL receiver with decent speed would have scored if they were playing Steve's position on the famous X Clown play.

The Panthers did try to get him a number 2....don't forget Keyshawn.

Problem is Steve is out for himself.  It going to be funny when a solid number 2 emerges right after Smitty's gone.  I honestly think Steve made all his wr team mates worse just because of his domineering presence.

I'm referring only to younger guys. The only way the Panthers could ever get a second option was via free agency because the rookies never developed.

Well I guess you know more than his team mates who have spoken out in favor of Smitty's ability to mentor the young guys. If you know more than they do, then you must know more than Ricky Proehl too. Look up the transcripts. As I stated u won't waste my time looking up things that any common fan could hear by going to Panthers.com after any given week for the past 5 years. Not to mention the special ESPN ran on him just last year.

Yeah because players are going to openly come out and trash a player on their team to the media.

So because they never developed that's his fault? No! That's a lack of talent and perseverance on their parts. Maybe even bad work ethics too. Moose never had a problem being productive. I'm not claiming Smitty was the best team mate ever, because he had his faults that are pretty well documented. I am saying that the last several years of his career he was a great mentor in the film room and the practice field for the guys at the WR position.

Oh man, you just keep serving them up to me on platters. Donald LaFell would have surely dropped it, and Armanti Edwards would have gotten run down by the punter (who wouldn't have even been on the field, but the punter still would have gotten him)

Of course Smitty is angry and disapointed.

And of course he will try his best to score against us, this fire is the reason why we "loved" and for some of us still "love" Smitty.

If i want the Panthers to win week 4 i will still be happy if Smitty is scoring.

Sure how did Colbert look the year Smitty broke his leg?
