Smitty may be even more pissed than we thought (Panthers related)

Bullshit!  Smitty has love for Jerry Richardson, the Panthers organization, many of his ex-teammates, and the city of Charlotte. His beef is mainly with Gettleman and the way that he was shown the door. He never thought he was bigger than the Panthers, and it's sickening and tiresome hearing this propaganda propagated by fans who obviously have some ax to grind or feelings of ill will towards a guy who gave his 100 percent on the field.  That's what's truly disgusting.

if he had love for Jerry then he would respect Gettleman's decision.   Jerry obviously does or it would not have been made.

lol you dumb fug. how is smith being cut putting the franchise in a better place? god damn you're dumb.

Cotchery vs Smith

We're paying Cotchery to replace smith + smiths dead money.

We're going to get half Smith's production without question, and then there's the entire point that gettleman cut smith WITH NO fuging PLAN at who cam would throw to. Does EVERYONE FORGET THIS? WHAT IF KELVIN WAS DRAFTED A PICK EARLIER? WHAT IF OUR BPA WASN'T A fuging WR?

Dumb, this fan base.

because now we don't have his shitty attitude anymore.  an attitude he shares with his jock riders.

chances are if someone starts a negative thread or acts like an attention ***** on the huddle, they're a smitty jock rider

It would have been great to have Benjamin AND Smitty... we dropped the ball there

Name one wide receiver who developed into a secondary option while Steve Smith was here...

Kelvin gets to be the guy with guidance from great professionals in Avant and Cotchery, not get into some competition with a guy who would probably feel threatened and put that unnecessary chip on that shoulder and do everything in his power to make sure the young guy "knows his place."

You're fooling yourself if you believe Smitty is the type of player to mentor a young player, which probably played a part in his release (not as big as salary implications, etc but a part nonetheless.)

Jerry Rice, the greatest player of all time, didn't finish his career with the 49ers and we've got people in here hating on David Gettleman for cutting 35 year old Steve Smith...

Valid point, but here's a counter. At 35, he posted better #s than anyone 25 and under in week 1. Other than Allen Hurns that is.
