Surprised no one has mentioned this....but if I had to guess why Richardson got so emotional has less to do with Hardy and much more to do with a different player that is currently serving an 18-24 year sentence in jail.

Because he's appealing his conviction ... it's the way the system works.

If he was found guilty by a jury, he could appeal that as well.  While appealing, he would be serving out his guilty sentence.  In Hardy's case of appeal, it's as though that conviction never happened, and he is now waiting for his real trial.  That is why he is not serving his sentence, his actual trial is yet to begin.

People on appeal ... even from a jury trial ... can be out on an appeal bond. They don't necessarily have to be serving their sentence until the new trial is held and completed.

Pistorius killed his wife but you don't see national out cry about it ? But since there isn't a video about what he did or what happened it's not as big as Ray Rice indecent! Out of sight out of mind?

I think a pretty large portion of America doesn't even know who he is.

He's not American and track doesn't have the kind of following that the major sports do.

As referenced in another thread:

Lord knows I'm not one to preach Florio's word as gospel truth, but when it comes to the law I'll defer to his experience...

edit: to change the link to the right article

Agreed.

Florio may be a douche, but he absolutely knows the law.

I think this will be the last thing I'm going to say on the Hardy situation, unless he is suspended before his trial.  Some have said if this was anyone else, they wouldn't be working right now, or more specifically if Hardy was working another job, he would be either suspended or gone.  Well, it depends on what job we are talking about.  If we are talking about Hardy being an anchor on tv, yeah, he would be suspended with pay.  If Hardy was a machine operator somewhere, probably not.  So it's not like he's only playing simply because he's a star football player or has a glamorous job.  So the media can bark all they want, I as a panther fan have no problem watching Hardy play on the field.  Any moral problem that is because I followed the trial.  I don't know what happened that night, but I do know from what was presented in the trial, I couldn't convict Hardy.  I also know and am acknowledging the history of Nicole Holder.  I know Hardy is about to get paid a big contract, although it's not going to be as big now.  I know from reports that Hardy was breaking up with her, or have already broken up with her.  With all that information, and the crazy story given by Holder which doesn't support the physical evidence, I have no moral problem watching Hardy play for us.  If I were a juror in Hardy's case, I would say not guilty.  With that, I take my leave.
