Around the Horn called for Hardy's suspension

Fiz

Recommended Posts

He's an immature falcons fan and  attention *****, nothing more. He is no where to be found during the offseason. Everything he posts is for more attention, clearly by 'choosing his battles', whatever gets him more attention. If you think that's entertaining that says a lot about you.

Fiz probably got a life and can't spend his time around here all the time.  Back in 00's hes was all over this place.

Cry more about his personality, I generally don't get along with him either, but he's been more important to this board than you or me.  As outlandish as he is, he's still been right more often than he has been wrong.

only if the person has the means to appeal

furthermore what's the point in specially signifying domestic violence (misdemeanor 1a in nc) if they can just appeal for a new trial? they have de novo in georgia but it's for insignificant poo like small claims.

and if the jury trial doesn't go the way he wants he can still appeal that!

some people watch too much fuging matlock and murder she wrote reruns

this isn't andy griffith or perry mason

And if we suspend him and it turns out Hardy was innocent...?

Then, sadly, he will have fallen victim to the NFL/Panthers trying to cover their backsides by making him a convenient scapegoat so they can point and proclaim, "See, we are tough on domestic violence."

I suspect in such a scenario, there would be no apology either, simply a statement wishing him the best in the future.

"Jerry Richardson can tear up all he wants." "I am shocked Hardy is playing...HE WAS FOUND GUILTY!"

have you ever heard the saying "a grand jury will indict a ham sandwich" ???

it applies here...........de novo means he gets a do-over. Like the first trial never happened.

ofcourse this is in the eyes of the law............not the public.

This is why NC's legal system is so fuged up. The bench judge trial is essentially a grand jury. Unless you're just horrendously false accused, you're gonna be found guilty because it's not so much a guilt/innocence thing, it's essentially a trial to figure out if the case is worthy of being presented to a jury.

The legal system may be broken in some ways.  However, this situation is not one of them.

They have these bench trials to save money and time for misdemeaner charges.....it is much more expensive and time consuming to have a jury trial.

So many of these charges are bullshit and the bench trial is set to week them out.  Those that are found guilty (as you said it is really more of a grand jury kind of thing) are always appealed and then a jury trial is set.

It makes the system work smoother and cheaper.
