Goodell will be fired/resign by next week

From the dead?

Even from the great beyond, Alvin Pete Rozelle would be twice the commissioner Goodell is alive.

Goodell wants to expand the length of the season, expand the number of playoff teams and eliminate the kicker.

You can't take the "foot" out of football! What would you have left?

Just ball.

Goodell is literally destroying football!

The government works for Goodell and the owners. Look who pays for the vast majority of these NFL stadiums.

It's the typical typical knee-jerk politician reaction. Again, it'll blow over in a few days. I mean we even hardly hear about Fergusson, MO anymore. And here we are acting like Goodell killed someone.

Congress asks Goodell for 'highest level of transparency' with Rice

If the media keeps pounding Goddell, the owners will force him out

Nah.

There have been guys who have done worse than Rice and received no punishment before under prior people that have held the job.

It will blow over. NFL owners like Goodell. Unless he had the tape....they will eventually be able to show more fault in our justice system than the NFL IMO

How long ago did the Ray Rice story actually start?

And yet it's still high up in the public consciousness.

This is not going away that easily.

It's back in the public courts because of TMZ releasing the new tape. If they hadn't done that Ray would have been at practice on Friday

This can be similar to how Jo Paterno went down. I am not at all comparing or trivializing these two crimes, but Paterno actually reported Sandusky to his bosses, thought it was being handled and left it at that. Ya, Paterno probably could have done more. But the backlash against Paterno that took him out made you think he was the molester or somehow actively covered up. Once outrage is whipped up on a grand scale the mob wants the biggest fish

Goodell is doing what all the owners want.....he is simply a visible face to take all the heat and poo. He is the collective thought of all owners....he takes the hate. That gets lost....but the owners are taking us down all these paths

Nowadays it's easy to ride out a negative wave of public opinion. Our attention span as a society is so short he could go on a 3 day cruise and come back like nothing ever happened. Society is all gung-ho over poo until the next big news breaks.

I would agree with this is in most public forums the difference is sports media is really dominated by one company and that's ESPN so they basically make their own rules without real competition to push them and since a lot of other major sports are in the off season they wont go away so quickly.

From the story...

A dozen members of Congress are demanding that the NFL be as transparent as possibl e with the failures of the Ray Rice domestic violence investigation.

USA Today writes that 12 House of Representative members, all Democrats, sent a letter to commissioner Roger Goodell asking for the "the highest level of transparency" in regard to the investigation.

Wrote the members of the Judiciary Committee: "We are interested in the manner in which these leagues handle incidence of domestic violence by their players, owners and other employees."

yes... she did so why can't everyone else that wasn't in the elevator... this happens all the time in the real world. people are ridiculous! on a side note, "some" not all chicks in this situation often love getting handled and it even goes directly to the bedroom. Some here may not agree but but women are crazy on sooooooo many levels and reach other levels later after the outcome. this is between that man and that woman and the media has messed up their paper, and who is feeling more guilty? not him, but her! #crazy broads#insecure dudes

Roger? Is that you?

I seem to recall Goodall saying something yesterday like this: "To my knowledge no one from the NFL corporate offices viewed this video prior to today".

Someone will need to definitively prove he had prior knowledge that contradicts that statement before he resigns.

Good luck with that
