so...if we're proving that Goodell is a douche with his own agenda, does that mean the Taints didn't actually have bounties?

 

I approved of how he handled the Bounty Scandal.

 

My disagreements with Goodell have been things like the 18 game schedule, team in LA, team in London, softening the rules for offense while toughening rules on celebration and such.

 

But on the player discipline front, I've supported pretty much all of what he's done up till the minor suspension on Ray Rice.  That was a colossal mistake.

 

I get the feeling the information now surrounding that mistake is gonna do him in.

The number it came from was confirmed as being in the NFL's main offices.

Goodell repeatedly insisted in an interview with CBS just a few days ago that nobody in the League had seen it.

So either he's lying or he's ignorant about something going on in his own building. Looks bad either way, especially for a guy who told someone else "ignorance is no excuse".

And how many people are employed there?

People don't like Goodell. I tend to think he is a straight shooter in reality. Just bc the tape made its way somewhere doesn't mean it made its way to him. Goodell deals with many things and the Rice thing likely is handled mostly by others.....now he is catching the flack for it though bc he is the boss.

Simply put Goodell isn't dumb enough to lie about if he saw and had the tape at this stage

Like in most large organizations....the boss doesn't do all the dirty work. Goodell gets stuff taken to him after lots of other hands have been involved. He makes final call.

Now is he responsible for a botched job? Yes.

But again, I don't think he is dumb enough to lie at this stage. Plus, soon enough some of these ESPN guys will leak who saw it.....bc they know who in that office saw it. Goodell at this stage is putting it all together he knows people know which individuals saw it

Goodell wouldn't be the first person nor the last to get drunk on his own power and think he can do whatever the hell he wants to do and then lie about because he's just fuging untouchable.

The Fmr CEO of Mozilla made a chunk of money from JavaScript. Pretty much every website uses it... he's still became a former CEO because enough people threatened to stop buying/using other products he was associated with.

Different and it was his employees jumping ship not consumers.

Understood. But, with great power comes great responsibility. Goodell has seen fit to make himself judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to doling out discipline in the NFL. That means he gets to bear full responsibility when that goes wrong. It went horribly wrong here.

What you're implying here is that the league had this video and then no one disclosed the presence of this video to Goodell. I'm saying there is very little chance that happened and if it did happen, that's indicative of the true priority Goodell has placed on implementing an atmosphere at the league office that is conducive to conducting proper investigations. Either way, it leads back to Goodell. He wouldn't accept excuses like this from a team. He specifically told Sean Payton and the Saints during Bountygate that ignorance was no excuse. Those chickens have come home to roost now.

While I'm no fan of TMZ, if this video hadn't gone public, Ray Rice would have just served a two game suspension for his actions.

 

Seeing what he did, do you really think two games was enough of a penalty?
