Goodell will be fired/resign by next week

Proving he heard/had knowledge of that recording is the trick.

I think one of his subordinates is going to take the fall and get a nice severance package to not make waves.

I'm not so sure that'd be enough to silence the barking dogs.

And it could rightly be pointed out that Goodell told the Saints "ignorance is no excuse" about the Bounty Scandal.

I'd counter that with saying the Saints and their fans are ignorant dick bags. May not hold up in court of public opinion but I enjoy saying it.

At this point, I think you are the only barking dog...

NOW was calling for Goodell to resign before this story came out.

Both houses of Congress are getting involved.

Several former players are speaking out calling Goodell a hypocrite.

And sports media is in overdrive all over this story.

But yeah, it's really all just me

We will see, worst case, if all else fails, Goodell bails on the NFL w/ a nice golden parachute for a soft landing.

The incoming NFL Commissioner then gives boiler plate speech about integrity and transparency to the press.

First act as commissioner:  Implements strict external communications policy for all subordinates.

They hate Goodell because he crushed their beloved players union like a house of cards. Now he and all his evil rich white enabling owners are going to have to pay. The media elites have hated everything about the NFL for years and this is their chance to draw blood. That's what all of this is REALLY about.

Plausible.

The NFL is fighting to keep the Blackout Rule in effect at a time when the FCC seemed poised to nullify it.  This would be a pretty bad time to have the government pissed off at them.

Who is NOW? I had not even heard of them until you mentioned them.

About congress, what are they going to do? A private entity leniently punishes an employee for bad conduct. Upon further review, the CEO decides to increase the punishment in light of previously unseen footage. Congress is going to do what about that again?

Former players who are constantly suing the NFL for more money are calling RG a hypocrite?

Sports media is wanting their rating too.

I mean come on, there are worse scandals out there that have been survived and not this

Just when I thought we were going to get our sports radio back something else keeps coming out about this story.

Even if they don't get rid of Goddell all his goodwill is gone.  Every punishment will be put under a microscope.  This is basically the management equivalent of the fall of Tiger Woods.  Dude was above reproach until he screwed up so bad that it became a feeding frenzy in the media that he could no longer control.  I think James Harrison said it best:

James Harrison:

@nflcommish ain't no fun when the rabbit got the gun huh?

    • At least when Mays was in he wasn't getting pushed back constantly into Bryce like our last big signing at center, Bradley Bozeman. Mays held his own and I think he earned the chance to compete for the starting spot fulltime.
