"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

I highlighted the part you don't understand.

Greg Hardy opted for a bench trial.

Sorry kiddo, still guilty and due process accounted for.

Domestic violence cases are not handled like this in most states. Bench trials are faster and ease the caseload, and are typically open and shut. For first time offenders prosecutors will typically offer pretrial interventions and a negotiated settlement. Obviously this is harder to do for repeat offenders.

99.9 percent of small claims/domestic violence cases are handled like this. If every single person needed a jury then obviously the court system would be backed up twenty years.

In the eyes of the law, regardless of his pending appeal, he's had his day in court. This wasn't a discovery trial.

If hardy's lawyer argued his 6th amendment rights had been violated he'd be laughed out of the court, regardless what am radio tells you.

Now there might be some difference in nc domestic violence court but they're all pretty uniform.

Suspend him now and get it over with. I believe it would quell the media blood lust that has been going on this week. He erred in judgment regardless of what you believed happened that night , he shouldn't of even been in the tenuous relationship, he's was found guilty and needs to pay for it. The longer this goes on the more distraction it causes. I say 3 games.

Whether your trial is a bench or a jury trial, the process followed during the trial should be the same and, if you are convicted, you are entitled to appeal your conviction to a higher court. The court is required to follow the same rules of evidence and procedure at every trial. The judge cannot rule differently in a bench trial than he would in a jury trial. Because a jury is not present, a bench trial may be a bit less formal than a jury trial, but all rulings must be consistent.

Pressure to convict. Some experts question the neutrality of judges when deciding whether a defendant is guilty. Critics (or cynics) suspect that, because they hold public office and may have to stand for re-election, judges may be tempted to please the public’s perceived desire for conviction.

Incorrect in every sense.

The difference in having a professional lawyer and a court appointed one.

Your like the fat annoying girl that no one in the group invites to come out but ends up coming anyway, then runs her annoying mouth the entire night and ends up being a total c@ck block to some dude trying to get with one of her "friends"..........

he's getting suspended before his trial for sure, Goodell can't take all the hate that he's getting

But if Goodell is still around and hardy is acquitted. It will be an even bigger storm for Goodell. Because Hardy will have grounds to sue on. It will also proved that the upper office is acting without thinking because of the media.

A smart upper office will let ANY pending case go through due course. even then hardy only owes 2/6 games 2 if he's grand fathered in the rules. 6 if not. But right we forgot the rules they just changed on DV have already been forgotten to save Goodells behind. If they suspend him theres a good chance he could fight it right now anyways under the rule that have been set. Since he is only a "SUPPOSED" first time offender.

I don't not know what happened in his apartment or at the club. so it is in no way my business to claim what happened.
