Stephen Hill update?

I'd like to go on record by stating that they should sign him to the 53 right now, unless there's a character issue or some kind of health issue that obviously has allowed for him to pass an initial physical but may need to be monitored closely.

There's no reason to keep anyone inactive on game days as far as a WR goes if this guy is capable. What I saw from him last year with the QB he had at the time had me sold. I trust Ricky Proehl to do his job and advise the FO accordingly. I will say that he's probably the first WR that will get picked off a practice squad period. I'd rather have him signed to the 53 to protect that from happening. Who'd sign Bersin? I mean really? It's a good feel good story, that the kid used to catch balls in JRs backyard (literally) growing up, and JR has done right by Bersin's dad by keeping him around. Obviously he's busted his butt, but is he really ever going to be better than Hill? I don't think so.

He's probably like watching tape and running routes and catching footballs and stuff.

But in all seriousness I do think theyre going to consider bringing him up this year. If Bersin doesnt push for play time, there's a strong possibility Hill can. That may be his inlet.

   Why? Cause he is fast.  If a receiver goes down and they choose between Bersin and Hill.  It will be Bersin, period.  Who do you want on the field?  A guy that can blow by you and drop a perfectly thrown ball or a solid receiver that is going to fight, claw and CATCH what is thrown to him. It is nice watching the games without worrying that every time the ball is up in the air that you worry.  If it isn't thrown to Smitty or Olsen that the chance of a drop is a real possibility. This year we have good hands receivers.  Let's keep it that way. 

 

I am all in on the Hill experiment but lets not confuse the that the Hill is a second round BUST. He came to Carolina because his agent knew if anyone was going to help Hill it was going to be Ricky.  

 

Get off the feel good story will ya.   Bersin earned his spot on the team.  It had absolutely zero to do with JR and his dad being buddies.

Klien can take his place. Jason Williams and Klien can get the job done.

The problem is we didn't activate Bersin, so would Hill even be active?

We obviously don't use many 4 WR sets because Olsen is such a great receiver. So would Hill even get playing time if active?

I do believe we are sitting him to help learn the playbook and see what Proehl can teach. If we do being him up to the 53 man roster I see us cutting Bersin. After all why would we need a WR that can't return kickoffs/punts when we have Hill?
