I actually agree.  Tate catches damn near everything and always pops up right when he's needed.  Then does his first down stare or whatever the f.   He's a problem too.

The stats mean plenty. Tate can be covered by anyone on the team. Megatron, the BEST receiver in the game, is who we should be game planning for.

this. the Panthers defense is not about shutting receivers down per se. its about shutting the QB down in the passing game. as long as the Panthers play their game and make the Lions play along, Detroit wont be doing much through the air.

I see where you're coming from. I just think it's more crucial to shutdown CJ rather than Tate. The D is capable of shutting down both, but I think first priority is Johnson.

I think I should have been clearer: we are going to shut down Calvin. He's not going over 100yds on us.

Tate could probably have 10+ rec if McD forgets about him and focus too much about CJ.

I'd probably be willing to give up 2tds to Calvin than let Tate have 10rec. Bc those 10 recs probably lead to 5tds for Stafford. I'm not saying that will happen bc we have the best defense in the NFL. But, that's for you to see what could happen if Detroits Off is on the field long enough. The man is one of the more underrated WR in this game. If I could've had any WR this past off season other Nicks, it was Tate.

As always with our defense, the pass rush is the key.  We haven't had a strong secondary in years.  Really, a strong secondary has never been the focal point of our defense.  We've almost always been a team that focused on a strong front seven.  Our D the last two years reminds me a lot of our Super Bowl D back in '03 in that regard.

 

Our D lives and dies by the pass rush and the front seven in general.

That's the whole point. Megatron being probably the best WR ever can still be stop. But, by this it opens up opportunity for other guys. Tate is the guy that could kill us, not Bush/Pettigrew/Ebron/Fauria.

Guys face it our D has their hands full on Sunday. We have to deal with Bush,Tate, Calvin, and Ebron. Plus will Staford showing that he can escape the pocket as well. We will have to pick and chose our posion on Sunday. It's going to be interesting how we can stop these guys with speed.
