Week 2 Power Rankings

OL is going to be tested. Big test for our defense, too. Calvin Johnson looks unstoppable. If I had to put a number on it, I'd probably go with Detroit as a TD favorite

I think this game is a toss up.  If our strengths remain strong in this game I think we'll win.  It will start with pressing the pocket with the DT's not allowing Stafford alleys to escape the pocket then with the DE's there to capitalize.  This is why I'm worried about the check down in the flats.  You have to think Detroit is going to try and neutralize our pass rush by getting the ball out quick and forcing us to soften up.  If we can get to him early I think it will change the complexion of the game immensely.  Let's not fool ourselves....we would have destroyed NY too.  This game we'll be won on 1st and 2nd down.  We also have a much stronger run game then NY.  We need to use that to our advantage defensively.  If we avoid the early 3 and outs we'll be fine.  I'll point out that Detroit isn't used to having to deal with read option wrinkle either.

What were they ranked before the game though?

Falcons jumped up 6 spots from 16 to 10..

Saints dropped down 2 spots from 5th to 7th

Panthers jumped up one spot...from 10 to 9.

Colts stay the same at #8.

He has 4 teams in his top 10 that either lost close or lost by a lot..

So he's not an idiot for having the Saints still over the Falcons after just one game.

Not moving the Colts is another story. At least drop em one spot.

Don't know, but prior rankings would have been based on meaningless preseason games.

I'm not really a big fan of Power Rankings anyway (especially after only one game) but if I were going to make a list, I'd have a hard time justifying the ranking of any team higher than the opponent that beat them, much less three spots higher.

6. PANTHERS +5

"The Panthers playing a divisional opponent on the road with Derek Anderson ( not Cam Newton) as frontman was like Van Halen following up Roth and Hagar with Gary Cherone. Good luck with that one ... except, wait -- it worked out! Anderson made some plays. That aside, this defense can challenge Seattle's unit for the position as the best in football. And if Kelvin Benjamin can give the team more of Week 1 Kelvin Benjamin -- look out."

The thing that stirred the drink though, was the OLine outperforming everyones expectations.  Giving DA time to throw and opening some occasional holes for running.
