The truth....once D.G.left the Gmen....team started to decline

Just to point this out to a few on here. After Dave left that team,it started a tailspin. I believe that his input with personal decisions really helped make them what they where. If this keeps up for them, the head coach might not make it through the season. We are lucky to have ths guy as the GM. His personal evaluation skills are top notch and he has begun to fix the cap issues. There is no doubt he will have the Panthers playing winning ball for many seasons to come. That would be something this team and the fans have never known before.

Didn't their decline begin when Plaxico Burris shot himself in the foot?

True point in this thread, the Giants are awful, but lets face it, the entire NFC East is complete garbage (minus Eagles).  They have taken over the award that used to go to the NFC West.  It's looking like only the division winner will go to the playoffs, somewhere around 9-7.

But-- but-- but--the NFL Network said they had to spend a long time breaking down the NFC East last night because there was so much interest in them.

I just New York needs a new identity. Has nothing to do with who the old assistant GM was. As good as they've both been in the past, maybe it's time to move on from Manning and Coughlin. If they suck this year they can land one of Mariota, Winston, Hundley or Petty.

Yup Yup

Eli has/had the same problems as Newton (unimpressive running game, OL, barely average receivers), but couldn't make up for them.

Coughlin, is a good coach when all things are clicking. But like Eli, he pretty much sucks when has to work with mediocrity, and lift the team up.

Giants won in 2012 and Dave came here in early 2013.They played the last hand he left them in 2012 and 2013 began the fall off. Two years of lousy drafting and bad FA decisions started the decline along with a aging player base.Doesn't take long to be in the toilet in this league.

If this is true, you think the Giants will ask him back as GM when they restructure their organization?

GM Positions tend to be promotions or retreads, not lateral hires.

If Jerry Reese is gone for some reason, the Giants have Marc Ross or Assistant GM Kevin Abrams waiting.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
