The truth....once D.G.left the Gmen....team started to decline

Just to point this out to a few on here. After Dave left that team,it started a tailspin. I believe that his input with personal decisions really helped make them what they where. If this keeps up for them, the head coach might not make it through the season. We are lucky to have ths guy as the GM. His personal evaluation skills are top notch and he has begun to fix the cap issues. There is no doubt he will have the Panthers playing winning ball for many seasons to come. That would be something this team and the fans have never known before.

This may make me sound silly but, I had no idea how much  good GM could affect a team is such a short time. I am really impressed with the work he has done. I am also glad that he has shown some patience with his evaluation of Ron Rivera. I really think that Ron (especially when he develops more of a mean streak, like Bellisuck) will be a great coach. Sometimes he strikes me as just a little too nice. He must insist that his offensive coordinator keeps up the heat until the end or at least until victory is assured. I admit that it may be easier said than done, however. But yeah Gettleman is and will be a huge part of the process which is turning our team into a powerhouse. Yes...powerhouse!!!

I just New York needs a new identity. Has nothing to do with who the old assistant GM was. As good as they've both been in the past, maybe it's time to move on from Manning and Coughlin. If they suck this year they can land one of Mariota, Winston, Hundley or Petty.

True point in this thread, the Giants are awful, but lets face it, the entire NFC East is complete garbage (minus Eagles).  They have taken over the award that used to go to the NFC West.  It's looking like only the division winner will go to the playoffs, somewhere around 9-7.

I think the Giants sucking and our progress has plenty to do with g man.  The guy is a great talent evaluator.  With the rules of the NFL set up so that every team has the same purse to play with, you need to find diamonds in the rough in order to have success.  And g man is an ace at that job.

Another interesting Gettleman fact: the more The Huddle whines about his decisions has proven to be a reliable indicator of how good they are. I never heard as much complaining about Hurney as I hear about Gettleman, because, like the average fan, Hurndog had no business running an NFL franchise.

Gmen was the brains behind all the defensive drafting and stocking up during the offseason with the giants. They just used to load up every off season - now guess who's bringing in defensive line free agents from South Africa if need be. If and god forbid hardy was not to play - we wouldn't even feel it.

Getts is that good.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
