If the line isn't stellar then Stewart isn't stellar. He needs room to gain momentum. Otherwise he gets stood up quite a lot. I also don't understand why we run sweeps and tosses with him AT ALL. Why would we EVER want Stewart moving laterally?

you're talking like stew is some fat bum. he's faster than d-will.

Frankly, I thought the panthers Run blocking was weak, but I kind of expected that because the Bucs loaded the box against the panthers and dared us to run because they expected DA to either be ineffective or wild and throw picks, neither happened.  Stewart and Tolbert had little room to run, and frankly, so did D-lo, but for the first time in a long time, I saw Deangelo run with a ton of fire.  Talent standpoint, Stew is the greater back, but Williams is playing for his mom and a players determination can be a big thing, especially a guy who when at his best has probowl talent.  With Cam back, look for the run game to open up as the defense can't throw the house at stopping the running backs.

No he didn't man. Maybe like twice. He ran 14 times for 70+ yards and its not like he broke off a 40 yarder. Most of his runs were in the 4 to 8 yard gain range. Deangelo gets up to speed faster than Tolbert or Stew and like you said he was running hard and breaking tackles better than we've seen in awhile. Maybe his mom's passing and everyone crushing has him refocused a bit. I know he hasn't been doing interviews this year so to me that says he just wants to play. Hopefully so. We need his speed on offense even more this year.

Like Squirrel said I don't think there was anything wrong with Stew or Tolbert. Deangelo is just not as washed up as everyone wants to declare(not saying in any way that he's 08 DW). The oline gave him some push and creases that did not happen alot last year. People are funny making excuses for why he ran well. He just played better on Sunday simple as that. That can and probably will change week to week.

I actually saw few holes, O-line played far better in Pass protection than run blocking.  With D-lo, he just ran better than he has in a long time.  I doubt he does this all year, but he will have a few games that are great, but he'll have a few down games and thats when we'll need Toldozer and Stew to carry the load.

There were several times where the play called for Deangelo to run between the tackles, but as opposed to last year when he just did it and accepted his 0 yard gain, this time he saw the hole close and bounced outside. Stewart can't do that as well. When the play call sucks, Stewart sucks. Deangelo has the ability to audible mid-play.

The change in Deangelo's motivation I would attribute to the sudden positivity from CRA, who has become his #1 fan

3 runs standout for Stewart which is why I asked the question.

1. sweep to the right and was smothered by TB

2. 6 yard gain but sure looked slow

3. handoff and then he hesistated to long and got tackled in the backfield.

But for the most part we didnt have the holes we needed to run the ball good.  If you look at the play calling it was split evenly run vs pass so atleast we stuck with it.  As others pointed out Dwill was running with some fire in his heart and made some extra yards with that.  But overall our run game wasnt that great Sunday.

To me it was more of the TB run defense then our Oline but that is hard to tell in one game.  Not to worried yet but would like to see better results in the next few games.

Better yet the question is why in the heck did we use Tolbert on a few screen plays on Sunday that resulted in loses. Tolbert doesn't have very good acl speed. Either Dwill or Stewart should be on the RBs screen play because that have fast speed overall. They just need to use Tolbert to block for the RBs and bowl people over when he is handed the ball on running plays. Not using him on screens.
