Is it crazy to just say the line blocked better for Deangelo? I saw Stew getting hit in the backfield and grind out a 3 yard gain. There is value in that. I don't like to get caught up in yards per carry because every play comes under unique circumstances.

Deangelo ran harder than we've become accustomed to. Credit to him for that. But he had a ton of ineffective runs too.

Tolbert didn't have a great game running but some of his carries were clock killing in a stacked box. And any type of misdirection or read option was less effective with DA in there.

it was deangelo williams's day. he was the hot hand.

both stewart and tolbert had trouble running against the bucs.

i really wish they had kept feeding williams instead of force feeding stewart and tolbert.

Out of curiosity. Anything get affected by Dwill not playing in preseason meaning no gameplan for him?

We kept Deangelo in for obvious passing situations so it was harder for the Bucs to key in on him when he was in the game.  Stew was in only to run the ball which made it easier for them to stuff him since they knew if he was in the game we were almost certainly running.  Those are the kinds of things i expect to see changed up as the season progresses.

DeAngelo Williams bounced a lot of things to the outside while Jonathan Stewart was tasked with running inside.  That was the difference.

But I don't think Stewart played poorly, not to the point where I think it'll be a week-by-week thing.  It just happens.

If the line isn't stellar then Stewart isn't stellar. He needs room to gain momentum. Otherwise he gets stood up quite a lot. I also don't understand why we run sweeps and tosses with him AT ALL. Why would we EVER want Stewart moving laterally?

At one point in time if we threw a screen pass to Stewert it meant a first down.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
