Cut or Keep Greg Hardy

Knocking someone out is definitely more ... brutal. But the more I think about it, Hardy's incident COULD (depending on what actually happened) be just as bad.

With Rice it was a tiff in an elevator that led to one quick punch. Over. But what if Hardy and the girl argued for over ten minutes? And what if he chased her? Grabbed her? Got in her face and yelled? Pushed her? She probably feared for her life. So, emotional trauma versus waking up with a black eye.

Unless there is a video of it i wouldnt worry

i really dont think what greg supposedly did is as bad as what ray rice did

it isnt like he knocked his bitch unconscious or even punched her (unlike rice). she's just saying he pinned her in a bathtub and also onto a loaded pile of guns (right) and said he'd kill her. which he hasn't done.

there also isn't a video (unlike rice)

and greg hardy is really good (unlike rice)

and he's gone after this year anyway (unlike rice - well, before the video was released)

not to mention a trial won't even happen until after the season so no one will know more details at all until then

The underlined portion of your post proves exactly what is wrong with society and these cases.....calling a female "someone's bitch" shows how little respect that you and others truly have for women.

OP is over reacting.

The whole sports media is overreacting. We see the numbers on domestic abuse and for some reason no one cares but you put it on video and everyone gets all emotional and irrational.

this is the same board of people who loved it when Jon Beason punched a guy in the face.

I know this has been pointed out before and we don't know exactly what did/didn't happen with Hardy but if he swung on a woman like Rice did, there wouldn't be any woman left. Domestic violence is no joke, but without the evidence that the Rice case has I don't think the Panthers need to be proactive at all. Let the courts make another ruling and punish accordingly.

Although the league has set an official punishment, these cases wont be black and white and need to be looked at on a case-by-case basis when appropriate.

If you got beat, while lying on a bed of guns and had your life threatened, you would get as far away as possible.  He's on the phone, she was in the background trying to get back in the house. Her story is exaggerated.

As far as the Rices' situation. An abused spouse DOES NOT strike her abuser twice, beforehand. She slapped him, then elbowed him ( he shoved here immediately afterwards), she then charged him, before he struck her with the left, causing her to hit her head and falling unconscious. Convenient, how PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, matters not. Everyone was wrong!

Mike and Mike touched up on the Greg Hardy situation just now. (They also were with Jemele Hill and Cris Carter)  CC said to give Hardy due process and Golic stated the judge found him guilty.  At the end Jemele Hill made an allusion toward the Jovan Belcher case due to Hardy's case having guns involved.  I just don't like the media constantly bringing up Hardy's name in all of this because it doesn't accurately portray the doubt in the case, and his true trial is yet to take place.

Hardy was found guilty by a judge.  His appeal will be heard by a jury at some point.  "A unanimous verdict is required" to find him guilty.  If, he is found guilty then I have no doubt the league will suspend him per the new domestic violence policy.  Right now, he has a "60 day suspended sentence" and the legal process is not over.  Clearly, the NFL and the Panthers are allowing the courts to adjudicate Hardy prior to making a decision.  That is called due-process.  If the NFL suspends every player for what they are accused of prior to adjudication then that is going to open them up to huge lawsuits.

Not every player is guilty of what they are accused of.  Finding a person unanimously guilty in a jury trial is far more difficult than finding them guilty by a judge.  If the NFL/Panthers act on the Hardy case then they better have some serious evidence.  Like a video of him doing all of this or an admission of guilt.

By the way, if the NFL does have this type of evidence against Hardy then they can be dragged into court during the trail.  The dirty secret (one of many) about the Rice case is that the NFL didn't seek out additional video evidence.  They may have done this to keep themselves separated from the legal process.  It's only a matter of time before NFL staff gets dragged into a legal trail.

I think there is a good chance that some Patriots staff gets dragged into the Hernandez trails.  They cut him before he was found guilty right?  He had not even been arrested yet.  Think the prosecution might ask them why they did that?  What evidence did they have that would cause them to think he is guilty?  Would you like to share that with a jury of your peers?
