Cut or Keep Greg Hardy

Sentencing at the jury trial was only probation - a slap on the wrist.  He probably did yell and push her.  He definitely didn't chase her down, he wanted her the hell out of there otherwise he wouldn't have called 911.  She bolted the second the police arrived and has never stated he held her hostage.

I wouldn't say any of it qualifies as emotional trauma, emotionally disturbing seems more in line.

He damn well could have.  And the NFL knows better than anyone the long term effects of blunt trauma to the head.

If Greg did do more than what's been released, why didn't she use that in her case?

Ok... that's a good point.

I'll relent.  Like I said I don't want us to lose Hardy. He was nice to me when I had a brief conversation with him and he's the best DE in the league.  I just don't want the Panthers to have to deal with what the Ravens are just beginning to deal with.

Like I said, the KO was brutal. But have you ever heard of women afraid to leave their husbands due to constant verbal abuse? I have zero sympathy for Rice and zero sympathy for Hardy if he did what she said he did. Sadly we'll never know if Greg did more unless someone filmed it. We'd have never known what Rice did had their not been a camera in the elevator.

Yes many times.  Frankly that is their own damn fault and once again, none of our business unless she decides to make it our business.  Want to get out of that situation?  Buy a cheap hidden camera, collect some evidence in secret, reach out to your friends and family, then call the police when you are in a safe spot.

Get a restraining order and a gun.  Tape the receipt for the gun to your front door.

Like I said before, people are too stupid to internalize situations that have been perfectly confirmed without a silly video to show it, hence the follow up outrage.

I think Rice will get reinstated.  Gregg Williams did.

Greg Williams and Ray Rice are apples and oranges.

Again, two completely different animals.

And it should be noted that even though there have been cases of domestic abuse in the NFL, the reason this one has blown up is because of the lack of punishment by the league and the Ravens for a situation where the evidence is literally right in front of their eyes.

With the Saints bounty scandal, the punishment fit the crime. This one never came close, and once we find out why that punishment was never handed down, we could be looking at a new commissioner.

Courts didn't get anything wrong.  Rice's fiancee dropped all the charges.  Think what you want of her, but the reality of that situation is between him and her.  If she needs help, feels threatened, wanted to leave him, sue the poo out of him, etc she could have and in the future will be able to.  Don't know why everyone thinks it's their job to stick their nose in everyone else's poo.

Even if Hardy is convicted it is nowhere near on the scale of what Rice did.  Sure there was a struggle, some roughness and threats, but he didn't knock her out cold.

I don't understand why people are surprised by the video.  The first video from outside the elevator of him dragging her around unconscious surfaced months ago.  It was declared she was knocked out cold by Rice (and I believe that was confirmed by both parties in court).  I don't know why the video changes anything.  Is it because most people are too small minded to read words and create images from that?  They need a freaking video to show exactly what everyone knew?

Regardless, there is no video for the Hardy incident.  Even if some footage of something exists, we know the incident took place throughout different rooms and it is unlikely the whole story would be told (unless you clearly see Greg striking her).

I am so glad you brought this up. What did people think happened in that elevator before this video came out? Did they think they were horsing around and she went unconscious? I guess people really can't put two and two together. Video or not, everybody knew he hit her. Not sure where this belated outrage is coming from. Why everybody is just now getting worked up is beyond me.

A woman shouldn't really have to go through all that.

People probably expected to see a drunk violent woman poking Rice in the chest get punched.  Not what seemed to be a premeditated attack by Rice.

The outrage is because the response to the video from the people who had the power to act was as tone deaf as possible and those responses look even more damning today.

That is a good point. You said it much better then me.  Is evidence in front of the Panthers eyes?  Right now I trust the org and say none.  Given how the Raven organization handled this it just makes you wonder if this is how the entire league operates.

I've known a few abused women....... I have done everything possible for two of them..  I have given them support,  given them cards and called up women shelters to let them know to expect them...  offered to drive them there myself,  have had interventions, .. these women have no children...so there isn't that mental anchor weighing on them.                   Both of them...............always go back to their husband and boyfriend.

One claimed that she hates the idea of her husband being alone and heartbroken...  has nothing to do with fear...but everything to do with believing that kind of relationship is "love".   For those like that,  I'm sorry,  but I don't feel bad for them anymore...  I feel for them as much as I would feel for meth head that is slowly killing himself because he refuses to break his meth habit... because something in his mind tells him that if he doesn't get  just a little more,  he's going to die.
