Detroit prediction thread.....what you say?

We will need to play ball control and keep long sustained drives in order to keep their offense off the field. HAVE to get pressure on Stafford and force turnovers. Calvin will get his, its just a matter of limiting the rest of their offense and not letting them establish any sort of a run game or another performer stepping up. For the love of god someone knock out Golden Tate's cocky a$$. I expect another big game out of Olsen, the giants had some success over the middle with their big TE. Unfortunately I think we will learn just how healthy Cam really is this game with Suh and Ansah. Byron needs to come to play and keep Ansah from getting pressure. Good thing for Bell, Ansah seems to be more of a bull rusher. He's definitely an athlete but he's still learning to play the DE position.

All that being said I expect to win a close one on a late Gano FG 24-21!

Detroit is going to come in with a lot of confidence and a lot of firepower on offense. Will be a good test.

I think Stafford will make mistakes if pressured but if they don't their receivers will make it a long day for the DBs

Yeh, but a lot of confidence isn't always a good thing.

Lions fan here.   I am certainly not here to quabble and start fights.   I think this is a tough matchup both ways and I see a lot of misconceptions here.

A few glaring ones are as follows

Matt Stafford throws a lot of interceptions and has a knack for having multiple INT games.   He has only once in his career thrown more interceptions than TDs and that was his rookie campaign.  His average is 1.17 INT per game.   While that is not great, it certainly does not indicate that he is a turnover machine.

The Lions are bad against the run.  Last year they were 6th overall against the run.   They held up pretty good against the Giants running game on Monday.

The OL is shoddy.   The OL is one of the best pass blocking units in the game today.  Run blocking they are middle of the pack.

The Lions defense over all is not very good.  The Lions front 7 is a top ten unit with the ability to become much better than that.

The secondary is questionable.  This I agree with to an extent.  However this is a partially new group of guys back there, so until they prove otherwise they are suspect.

Good Luck on Sunday.  I will be there.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
