QB Trade Speculation (Tin Foil Hats Needed)

I wouldn't mention it if he also didn't miss Olsen wide open for a TD that would've also put the game away.  DA had two chances to put the game away in the 4th quarter and missed badly on both of them.  Both were easy throws to a big, wide open target.

Like I said, he played about as well as you can hope for out of a backup, but he really left the door open for the Bucs down the stretch and very nearly threw the game away.  To ignore that is simply not being honest.

For about 52 minutes, DA looked great.  In those last 8 minutes though... oh wee mayne.

LMFAO Dude your really blaming this all on DA. You dumb as a blonde if you are. If you want to blame anyone for letting the Bucs back in this game. Blame Gano for missing a FG and then blame our DC and D for getting soft in the final 9 mins of the game and allowing the Bucs offense to score twice. Far as DA missing Olsen who wide open. Cam could of made that same mistake. So can Brady or Brees. It's happen to best of QBs in the league. Plus the play calling in final few drives didn't help. Blame Shula for play calling. DA did good. But remember this when Cam goes out on Sunday and struggles to hit his open WRs and even KB at times and misses passes we lose to the Lions. Remember Cams awful throws he made that cost us drives that could have won the game. Even tho I'm not wanting Cam to fail. But if Cam plays poorly. See don't people come to the forums call for Ron head for starting Cam and blaming Cam for losing and they will wish the DA played instead. So stop blaming DA and saying he couldn't lead us to a winning season. Because he can if he has the chance.

It's tough to respond to a post so poorly written and obviously emotionally driven, but I'll give it a try.

I'm not blaming it all on DA.  Exactly what blame is there to hand out?  We won the game.  That's the goal.  I'm simply pointing out that due to some very key errors by DA down the stretch, the game was much tighter than it every should've been.

To retort your points:

1.  Blame Gano for missing the FG - that FG attempt came directly after DA missed Olsen wide open for an easy TD that would've put us up 24-0.

2.  The D softened up - I agree the D did soften up, but our inability to sustain a drive late meant that they were on the field a lot.  They're flat out exhausted.  If Luke hadn't forced that fumble, we were in trouble.

3. Other QBs could've made the same mistake - to borrow your go-to argument technique,*but they didn't, DA did*

4. Play calling was to blame - the play calls led to a wide open Greg Olsen, who DA missed twice in the last 8 minutes.  One for a game sealing TD and one for a game sealing 3rd down conversion.

Beyond a trade, it wouldn't surprise me if Derek Anderson gets a shot at starting QB next season on another team.

Me neither.  Teams that don't have a legit starting QB are desperate to find one.  DA has had success in the NFL as a starter in the past and had success this Sunday.  He very well could get a chance to compete for a starting job elsewhere next year.

Really!! So you can see the future? DA seems pretty able to lead this team and give us a winning season at that. The guy played solid on Sunday. Stop thinking about what he did in the past. See what he doing now and base it off that. I think DA can lead this team to a playoff if Cam was to go down for a long period of time.

Glad you have confidence in DA, I just don't share it and wouldn't be surprised if he's traded. I agree he a great backup, but I just don't think he can lead this team in this division to the promised land, or atleast the playoffs.

I'm glad he's our back up, but of we can get rid of him for something good, I say do it.

I doubt he gets traded simply because I think he has more value to us on the roster this season than he does as possible trade bait.  What could we legitimately expect to get for him?  Maybe a 5th?  I'd rather have a good backup QB for the rest of the season than an extra 5th round pick.

While I don't think we'd be a playoff team with DA plugged in as a starter, I DO think he's good enough to give us an opportunity to win a few games if Cam gets dinged up.  That's the primary goal for a backup QB.  Very few teams truly have faith in their backup as their starter for the majority of the season, but if that guy can come in and hold the fort down for a few games, that's the value.

Considering what the Pats got for Mallet why would anyone think we would get anything better for Anderson. People show their ignorance by thinking they can get anything better than a 5th round pick and why would they trade jake long for Anderson? You couldn't even do that in madden.

Derek Anderson is not going to be traded unless the front office loses its mind.

Cam Newton's long term health is an unknown, he is coming off the first serious injury of his career and it is still questionable whether he is the long-term answer if he loses the ability to run the football.

Bash me all you want, but after 3 full seasons and 48 NFL starts, Cam Newton is statistically a mediocre quarterback with good mobility.

There's nothing "average" about Newton's first 3 years in the league.

Boyd is Blanchard's replacement on the practice squad, IMHO. We brought in Stephen Hill, but I don't think any of us see a WR trade on the horizon.

DA has already said he doesn't want to leave Charlotte, even for a starting job. If he does leave, I don't think it will be his choice.
