Chance to scout Detroit Tomorrow

We shut down V Jax and Evans today, we can shut down Megatron and Golden Tate. Reggie Bush will be a bit more of a challenge than Doug Martin, but doesn't matter - we've got Kuechly.

As long as we win the turn over battle, and work on our run blocking a little, we'll get this win.

Calvin Johnson is Calvin Johnson, he is going to get his.  I don't think we should alter our defense too much to try to stop him because that could bite us elsewhere (and Johnson has proven double coverage doesn't matter much against him anyway), just let the pass rush work its magic and force Stafford to make mistakes as per usual.

Tough game for us, I think they match up really well.  But I have faith we can get the job done.

Damn....Yahoo is ripping the Bucs and us by association on their homepage.  Might switch to another email provider.

Guess I'll bump since most of our feels are out of the way and Detroit plays tonight.

Thoughts on Detroit everyone?

Lol at that yahoo article...just give more bulletin board material to the Panther locker room.

As far as Detroit goes - On defense, put pressure on Stafford and limit the YAC on screens/check downs to Bush/Bell.  Megatron will probably get his 7 catches for 110 yards and a TD.

On offense, the key is controlling Suh and co.  If the Panthers can do that, then there should be no problem controlling the clock and ultimately the game.

Personally, I hope we continue to get disrespected.

Here is the scouting report.

Stafford has a rocket arm and will be looking to throw to Megatron. If we don't get to Stafford bad things happen. Pretty much all you need to know.

Also, Cam has to watch it bc that DL is dirty

CRA what do you think the trick is to neutralizing their DL?

I'm ready to see Cam back at the helm, but something has me uneasy about being on the field with Suh who is a likely candidate to exploit an injury.

Yeah the one thing I like about DA is he gets rid of the football. I hope Cam picks up that valuable trait from him. If Cam is going to hold it for extended periods he has to roll out more. Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are good at creating additional time.

Hopefully that's something Cam picked up on yesterday.

Being able to run, use play action and stay ahead of the chains.

I'm not a fan of us focusing on screens and short pass attack....Cam never seems that sharp at it even when we have success. He stares guys down too much and his accuracy is better attacking mid level IMO

Since drafting Matthew Stafford:

At Home:  2013 (4-4), 2012 (2-6), 2011 (5-3), 2010 (4-4), 2009 (2-6)

On Road:  2013 (3-5), 2012 (2-6), 2011 (5-3), 2010 (2-6), 2009 (0-8)

***Stafford injured for a good part of 2010***

In the Stafford era, the Lions are 1 and 5 in their road openers (the only win coming in 2011 (their playoff year) against Tampa Bay (27-20)

Jim Caldwell has head coached three road openers

Win at Miami (27-23)

Loss at Houston (34-24)

Loss at Houston (34-7)

Just some food for thought.
