You should edit OP from "should be" #2 and change it to "still is #2"

Do you know how I know that DA should be #2 over Joe Webb?  Because RR, DG , his teammates, and coaches think he should be.  That's all that matters to me.

 

Also this proved to me that he's worth every penny of his contract.  Because of Cam he might not get a chance to get on the field but when he's called upon he's very capable.  That's what a back up QB is for.  Most of the other teams would love to have our QB situation.

I get what OP is saying, and I am happy to have one of the best back ups in NFL.

DA has gotten first string reps almost all off-season. He was primed and ready to go. Webb has gotten 2nd and 3rd string reps. Ergo, DA was the better choice.

Taj would be strictly PS right now. He barely even played for the Jets this preseason. Webb has exceeded expectations as the #3 guy.

 

Has familiarity with Hill maybe. I'll take him over Blanchard for next years team.

I was just making a comment on your what if question. No problems from me.

DA is our back up. Nothing more. He proved we can still trust him. Nothing more.

Webb is insurance at this point. He showed he has a grasp of what we do. That he can bring some play making ability to the game if needed. But he is third on the chart for a reason. The big question becomes. What happens to Joe when Cam proves he is fully healthy?
