Anybody check out Donald's stat line with NE

Now that the season has started, I don't give a fug about Steve Smith or Brandon Lafell. Steve had a good game, Brandon didn't. What I care about is the great games KB and GO had.

While I somewhat agree with you, I'll tell you why I care.  Someday, I hope outsiders/objective parties will take a similar stance to that of WR that Peyton Manning has played with over his career.  Instead of asking questions like "what happened to Brandon Stokley or Dallas Clark (or Eric Decker after this season)," people consider that Manning makes WR that wouldn't do much on other teams into serviceable or attractive targets.  Looks like with Ginn and LaFell's new contracts, Cam did the same.  Before last season no team wants these guys.  Doubt Cam ever gets that credit, but I believe he deserves it.  He elevates players.  Look at LaFell's highlights from last few years...may start to look a little bit more like it was Cam that was responsible for LaFell's success and shiny new contract.

Plus, apparently the Patriots "work a little harder" than us.  So I can't help but feeling sorry for him working so hard for 6 drops and last place in the AFC East and I hope for their sake they didn't work all that much harder than us just to come in to Bank of America and get beat.  That would be embarrassing.

Benjamin/Cotchery/Avant

13 Targets, 11 Catches, 124 Yards, 1 Touchdown

Smith/LaFell/Ginn

15 Targets, 7 Catches, 118 Yards, 1 Touchdown

*Benjamin/Cotchery/Avant played with a backup QB with a career 52% completion rate and 1:1 touchdown to interception ratio. Benjamin was also a rookie making his NFL debut.

**Smith/LaFell both played with a Super Bowl MVP QB.

***Ginn plays tonight.

EDIT:

Those 15 targets are all Smith. Combined Smith & LaFell had 21 targets for 7 receptions.

I agree, but we can discuss it in the offseason

I just can't hate Smitty. He's my favorite player of all time, bar none. Seeing that stiff arm made me smile and brought a tear to my eye. He's still got it, screw the haters. I hope he pads his stats over the next few years enough to get into the HOF. He WILL go in as a Panther if he does.

I'm glad he had a great game.

yeah it doesn't make sense to me to be a fan a football team and say "I can't talk about anything but Panthers or care about former players until the offseason."  I care about most of our former players and want them to have success.  I don't feel that way about LaFell.  And I don't think it will affect, literally, anything, talking about it

20 Targets, 6 Catches, 38 Yards

Take away his 80 Yd TD catch (which came on completely blown coverage) and that's his stat line from yesterday. You have a pretty low standard for greatness if you think that's a great game. He looked like the same washed up player he was last year. He dropped numerous passes and couldn't get separation.

I love Smitty but he's a pretty average player now, and certainly not worth all the money it would've cost to keep him. Flacco threw the ball 62 times yesterday. Smith is gonna pad the hell out of his stats, but it won't be efficient and it certainly won't change the fact that Dave made the right call.

I never said I didn't understand the move DG made, it made complete sense to me.

I just still love Smitty no matter what <3
