What we learned about today's game against Tampa Bay

How come when Cam takes a sack, folks up in here yell for him to get rid of the ball? I'm confused. What is the QB supposed to do?

Link...or BS. Is this like how you claimed our O-line was going to suck. And that Gman was sabotaging Cam? Give it a rest. Cam will play when he is allowed to play. Not when you think he should. May be next week, may not. But you have no clue about much. So this ain't new news.

I said I'm worried that he is. Didn't say he was. Reading is hard.

WR's can catch.

Olsen is getting better and Better.

The defense is possibly better than last season.

The OLine is very average, but serviceable against "good" DLines.

RB's underperform for their pay, but can make plays.

The game plan shouldn't be judged too harshly.

How much would YOU air it out with your backup QB?

Does the defense really seem better? We didn't get much pressure without blitzing and we almost blew a 17-0 lead.

What we learned today is that Anderson can really play when it matters. There were hiccups at the end but this was Anderson's first start since 2010. He was really solid all day and gained invaluable experience. Cam got a well deserved rest and 7 more days to heel. This takes the pressure off of Newton to force himself to come backer sooner than he needs to. When he is ready he can do his thing and until then has a backup who is solid and moving the offense. Penalties and missed line assignments cost us a few drives and points.

Shula was great today.. He passed when they loaded the box and ran Deangelo around the end and Stewart up the middle when they played cover 2. He created a gameplan for Anderson that was effective. and used the whole offense with a backup quarterback who hadn't even appeared in a game since 2012. On the road against a Tampa Bay team celebrating a new coach and a new offense that is supposed to put up 35 points we pitched a shutout most of the night . Some say too conservative but I say until we closed out the game relying on the defense which is the strength of the team.

If someone had told me this is how things would unfold last night I would have been ecstatic. I hate nitpickars and guys with axes to grind criticizing the game. It was awesome. That's it......................

I have a problem with how the game was managed going into halftime. Could've had plenty of time for some TD chances...3 timeouts and you settle for a FG??

Not cool...

Maybe on this one post. There have been numerous post of you saying. "He will be on IR until week 8." I just want to know where you get your info. Cuz this is big news.

Remembering your own words be tough.

I was speculating since all sources combined say 3-8. 8 weeks would give him the full amount of time to heal without risk. Which would be week 7.

Again you are playing a backup who gets very little practice in the red zone and while you could have been more aggressive and would have been if Newton was in there.. But we are talking about Anderson' s first start in 4 years. Nitpicking all the way.....

I don't care if he's a back up lol. He's an NFL player, play the game like you want to win. You're at midfield with a minute left and 3 timeouts. That's poor game management by Rivera and co.

There's no debating it IMO

Good win though. Very happy we won in a hostile environment in our division

Is it cool to give Gettleman some love now? Cason got a pick, Harper got a pick, Benwikere recovered a fumble and the o-line didn't poo the bed. Cotch and Avant weren't spectacular but it's been mentioned elsewhere that they had a combined 5 receptions on 5 targets, so they were reliable and they were consistent. Kelvin was just awesome.

I think Gman knows what he's doing.

> Plays for a field goal at the end of the half

> Wins the game by a field goal

o.O

I didn't really learn much... the Panthers played the way that I expected them to.

Kelvin Benjamin is the WR1 that the team has been looking for. Our WR unit as a whole has improved. Benjamin is Smitty's replacement, who made Pacman his senorita today on that 80yd TD. Cotchery is an upgrade over LaFell. Avant is more reliable than Ginn (who's speed hasn't been replaced quite yet unless Philly Brown or Stephen Hill break out).

Bell and Chandler didn't give up a sack. Turner did, but I can't be mad at the rookie for getting swam over by Gerald McCoy.

The run game was... sufficient... which is a concern to me. However, thanks to our big body, sure handed receiving targets we can utilize the passing game to control the clock as well.

The defense played their asses off and could've been done a solid by the coaches by being a little more aggressive in the second half. It was over 90 degrees in that bitch today!

I knew that he was already, but I guess I learned how truly holy poo Star Lotulelei is quick. There was a run play where he was already springing before the ball was snapped and had to be IMMEDIATELY doubled by the center to help out the RG. Rainey had to change which hole to attack and was met by two or three Panthers defenders in the backfield. I got so hype!

Bene with them sure hands on that fumble recovery. He straight took it from Melvin White!

If I could have changed 3 plays...

1. Olsen not being able to haul in what would've been a sure TD over the middle.

2. Gano missed FG. GIMME PERRNTS!

3. Take back that roughing the passer call from the Bucs 2nd TD drive. Bad call by the officials that increased the heart rate of Panthers fans everywhere.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
