Today in the season opener the Panthers take on the Bucs in a divisional mathcup.

 

Where: Raymond James Stadium

 

Kickoff: 4:30

 

TV: FOX

 

Radio: 1110 WBT

 

Twitter: I will be covering the game from the sidelines, follow @CarolinaHuddle on Twitter for updates starting an hour before kickoff.

 

 

FYI: Both Cam Newton and Derek Anderson attended the production meeting yesterday. Highly irregular that backups meet with the FOX folks. I have been saying it all week, it isn't gamesmanship. There is a real chance Cam won't play. We won't know until today.

 

Keys to Panthers Victory:

 

Run the Ball - The Panthers may not have Jonathan Stewart healthy all season. Use him while you can, early and often.

Defensive Scoring - The offense may struggle today, a pick 6 or a fumble recovery in the red zone would help tremendously.

Philly Brown - Could be the difference in this game. Hero or goat? A long return or dropped punt?

 

 

Final Prediction:

 

Carolina impresses in a 24-10 victory over Tampa Bay. Kelvin Benjamin has over 100 yards and a TD.

I kept hearing that the QB decision was going to come out yesterday, which was puzzling, but nothing happened. I got to admit, this whole "Will he play?" suspense is really messing with folks. I expect drama today....lol

 

Rumor, I never believed it.

 

Cam is actually questionable, has been all week. Not sure why that is hard to believe. I am tired of trying to convince people.

 

We won't know for sure if he plays until later today.

I think he'll start but might not finish if he looks uncomfortable.

Or he may not start but will come in if DA doesn't look good.

 

 

At this point nothing will shock me.

 

 

Things I do know from first hand conversations within the org...

 

1. Panthers believe they can win today with DA

2. There is genuine concerns over Cam's ribs, they have been weighing that against point 1 all week long.

      I'd give the rookie WR's more credit than that. Bryce did actually earn most his yards against the Chiefs, but that Saints game was all rookie WR's yac. It was probably like 80ish of the 170 total passing yards were yac by JT and Coker. The throws have been accurate though and he's obviously playing with more confidence. I still want to see something over 40 yards in the air at some point that looks good/accurate

      We’ll agree to disagree.  Maybe change my wording to better roster would have been more accurate. Gamecocks have some nice defensive players….but they are also thinner than Clemson all around.  it’s at Clemson.  Dabo.  Better overall roster.  And they are favored slightly….which essentially supports my prior post that either could win but if you had to pick without a dog in the race Clemson is the smarter pick.   straight up vs Carolina? I trust Clemson’s O more than Carolina’s.    And Clemson’s D has some real studs on it too.  They ain’t slouches.  Which is what Vegas says.   I’ll make my pick game day.  Will depend on who can and can’t suit up for Clemson.  Carolina has been much healthier this year.  But ST could be the difference.  That Louisville game exposed some massive flaws in their kick game.  You don’t really want ST weakness showing itself vs Beamer
