The only metal I've invested in is lead. I can understand investing in precious metals to capitalize on the fear of a currency collapse, but not in anticipation of an actual collapse. I think like Bronn said, people would lose their collective sh!t pretty quickly after that happening, and while we may not have to go into full survival mode, I feel we'd at least be to the point where a cache of silver isn't going to mean sh!t.

Personally, I would rather have salt if the currency collapses.  If currency collapses, then its likely that transportation, electric production etc... will follow.  If that happens, Salt becomes extremely vital and I don't think there are a lot of salt mines in North Carolina.

i dunno, its not a bad place to start.   but you don't want it to be your nest egg.

 

wish i had started collecting silver quarters and dollars when i was 20 for example.   doesn't take as much money to break in to.
