Too much debt, too many people not working/not paying taxes, unfunded liabilities, wars everywhere, inflation.....

I sue APMEX but it looks like Provident is a little cheaper for smaller amounts. However they are basically identical for 500+

If a currency fails silver becomes the default

Yeah that is the theory. I'm not convinced that it would work that way but it is nice to have a commodity around just in case.

 

But Pstall I buy silver for diversification and forced savings. I realize I could avoid the transaction costs by investing in silver related stocks.

 If it all goes to hell there is about a 3 day supply of food on the grocery stores shelves.  Invest in long term food storage for yourself and those you love.  After that worry about hording precious metal..
