The Panthers have always been streaky in opening games.

 

4 Opening day losses 1997-2000

 

3 Opening day wins 2001-2003

2 Opening day wins 2007-2008

So, looks like the Panthers start another winning streak on opening day this Sunday. Odds are in their favor.

The last time the Panthers won to open the season was the Jake to "Rosario Dawson" pass to beat San Diego.

 

I was there. As I ran around screaming like a madman after the Rosario catch, the only other screams I heard was from the players on the field and random panther fans. That place went quiet in an instant .... epic game :-)

We won the opener in 2001 and then lost 15 straight.

However, the season was a total disaster. Not only were the Panthers unable to improve over last season, but they deteriorated even further to 1–15, winning only their opener. The Panthers thus beat the record shared by the 1976 Buccaneers, the 1980 Saints, the 1981 Colts and the 1990 Patriots for most consecutive losses during a single season.

 

The only way to win them all is win the first one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm fer it!!!

That game showed how bad of a coach Fox was and still is. Our team was ill prepared.

St Louis was 2007 bc I was overseas, sandiego was a last second miracle win. Before that was Jacksonville miracle right? So two last second wins and st Louis in the last decade? Sound right? There was a win over the ravens too I think, bc it was blacked out.

The win against SD was a comeback against a quality opponent. I think they ended up beating the colts in the playoffs that year. The 2008 panthers were pretty damn good.

The win against St. Louis the year before was because they were a terrible team. They finished 3-13, and we all remember how much ass that season ended up sucking for the panthers.
