Gerald McCoy Best DT in NFL?

The claim isn't necessarily that he's the best "DT" in the NFL. He phrased it as "best at his position", which taken literally is a UT in a 4-3 defense. His only other real competition there would be Geno Atkins.

so for simplicity sake, we'll stick to 4-3 DT's because thats pretty much what Lovie is referring to. and mccoy would be considered with Atkins and Suh in the top 3.

Yeah, this is the only way the argument cod work. Saying "well, Watt would be if he went to another team and then went parachuting before the game and then had lemonade with celebrities! That would make him a DT, so, got to count him!"

If we limit it to 4-3 DTs, I'd say McCoy is one of the best. Maybe the best. Suh is up there. As is Star, though.

You're not very bright, are you? The numbers and tape don't lie. If you're rushing from an interior position for more than half the snaps then you're a DT.

Except, jj watt doesn't. He comes from the DE in a 34. Sorry you don't watch other games but the Panthers and don't understand fundamental football.

Okay, but you cannot compare what Wilfork does as an NT in a 3-4 to what McCoy, Suh, and Atkins do in a 4-3. It's joining a 4-3 OLB with 3-4 OLBs.

No. There's more factors to how good a player is versus if id want him on my team. McCoy is older and has a larger contract. I'd rather keep Star because of those factors.

Star plays a different sub-position of DT. He's a 0, McCoy is a 3.
