Yeah he was always hit or miss seemed like he only showed up 75% of the time and played slow 25% of it.

So apparently this happened around the time we released Smitty which is why we heard nothing of it. Voth said feeling was mutual but we didn't have the cap space (Hardy's franchise tag)

I loved some JP while he was here but he can go be overpaid elsewhere with Smitty. We are building a team, not hopscotching to irrelevancy.

In the end though, I don't think it would have been prudent to use the little cap space we did have to give a sizeable contract to a situational 3rd down pass rusher on the downside of his career, no matter how nice the story may have been.
