i think with mills, you have to look at him like Stephan Davis.

Davis had his best years as a redskin....but IMO he will always be associated w/the panthers for that great 03 season!mills was apart of one of the greatest linebacker corps in NFL history as a saint.....but once again he will be associated w/the panthers for all the great things he did for this organization......which pretty much was define it!!!!!

keep pounding-Sam Mills!

and when he retired, he did so as a panther. and like hank 3 says "THIS SONG IS FOR G.G. ALLIN!!" love the avatar

I know full well about the Saints LB corp. of the late 80s and early 90s.

What I don't understand us how you assume that a players first team is the team he's remembered for.

Is Brees a Charger?

Is Favre a Falcon?

Is Jake a Galaxy?

Mills' accoplishments are a reflection on himself, not the Saints.

But I wouldn't expect anything less than blind homerism from a Saints fan.

Just remember..there's a statue of the man in front of our stadium, he choose to coach here over NO..what has the Saints organization does for Mr. Mills or his family?

It has NOTHING to do with the first team he played for, Mills led a top defense for years in New Orleans. In Carolina he had a few solid years but the bulk of his accomplishments came as a Saint. Most people with an above 70 IQ understand this.

He took the Panthers way further than the Saints have ever gotten him. That defense was not too shabby either, an overall better total defense than those Saints team.

The phrase, the shirts and the wrist bands live on.

KEEP POUNDING!!!! 51/58

One fluke playoff run isn't way further....

And Mills played nine years as a Saint, leading one of the best linebacking cores in NFL history and one of the top defenses in the league, that >>>>>>>>>>his years in Carolina.

This is the best answer. No one remembers Mills the player as a Panther. That's like Montana having a legacy as a Chief or Farve a Jet.

Stop being insulting just because you got your dander up. Absolutely people remember Mills as a player in Carolina, it's ridiculous to think otherwise. Of course he was a "part" of a great defense in NO, I'm not disputing that. But to say nobody remembers him in Carolina is ludicrous...

The 1st thought when you bring up Sam Mills to anyone outside of Carolina would be his years with the Saints and the Dome Patrol.

FWIW, I hate that the Saints have not retired his jersey and didn't really reach out to him after retirement. They don't do a good job of reaching out to former players.
