R.R.:I have been wrong before about injuries

I know every board has their share of homers, but over on the Bucs board, one dude posted that Mccown was already the better passer between the two, and with Cam dinged up McCown's more mobile.

And I'm sure you can find one dude here who says Cam is the best NFL QB ever and could start on defense at any position.

Cam Newton is the best QB in NFL History and also in the future.

He could play every position on defense and

would be a Hall of Famer.

That's why I began the post with " I know every board has their fait share of homers," thinking it might preempt the type of response you posted.

if DA is starting, we would still have the better QB....but that wouldn't matter because they won't be playing against each other. DA would be facing the same thing cam would be...the Buc D. mccown is facing our D and it still comes down to who you think would do better...our QB against their D or their QB against our D.

i still like our QB against their D more than thier QB against our D. mccown just isn't that good and he's got the same issues that he had before...the guy calling the plays will likely be a QB coach with no experience going against a pro level defense while their OC (who also has no experience going against pro level defenses) is at home recovering from an unspecified surgery.

one of the elite defenses in the league going against an offense QBed by an average (at best) journeyman in his first year with this team and receivers/TE and game planned/play called by college coaches with no experience going against pro level defenses (and no....preseason doesn't count).

and if you bring up that game 2 years ago as an example of why we would likely lose this game...that was two years ago and us losing that game was not only inexcusable but embarrassing. our coaching staff has more experience than then, our defense is significantly better, and our QBs have been in the system for multiple years. losing this game would be even more embarrassing and inexcusable considering the circumstances, with or without cam.

and if you bring up a history of slow starts...funny thing about history, it's in the past and it has no control over today. rivera should have gotten his team ready to play right out of the gate.

DA is pretty good, and I think the team is capable of winning the first game if he has to play.

One thing I've noticed though...you know how people often complain of Cam's high throws?  When DA misses, they often are behind the receiver, and that can lead to interceptions. If the QB is going to miss, it's probably better that he misses high where neither the receiver or the defender can make a play on the ball.

As for Cam being in pain today and taking it easy, that shouldn't surprise anyone who's ever had injured ribs. Hopefully he can manage the pain on Sundays until he's better, but he's going to pay the price on Mondays.

Honestly high throws have just as good of a chance of getting picked off.  Those throws lead to a lot of tipped balls

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
