2014 NFL Broadcast Maps

I'm surprised the map still looks the way it does. The NFL must have changed the way they handle this. There used to be "secondary markets" for most teams. For example, living in TN, I used to be able to pull in a tri-cities TN/VA Fox station that showed Panthers games pretty much whenever they didn't conflict Titans games. Now, almost everybody has to watch Dallas/San Fran??? Even in GA, an NFC South state sandwiched between the Carolinas and Florida? I'm guessing they've moved more to the "national game of the week" model; if you're not in the immediate vicinity of the two teams playing another game, you get the "national" game.

 

It is nothing new.  Fox gets the national game of the week for week 1 (CBS is showing US Open Tennis).  In general, they rotate each week.

I miss the days a local station in Charlotte would let people vote for a game. Had to be pre Panthers.

Some affiliates around the country still do that.
