i think we're talking about 2 different things. he should be doing the jay z or the diamond dallas page sign with his hands. rotate the off hand to the top to control the ball on contact. the way he's doing it in the pic there's nothing to keep the ball from skipping off the top of his hands and continuing on it's path. as far as not being able to see the ball? i don't know. i catch this way and i see the ball just fine

Pretty much. And not a huge surprise given his tendency toward body catching.

Kid I coach in flag has the same issue. Ball just bounces right off his hands like a stone skipping across a pond.

Exactly, that's the first thing I looked at. Then I looked at his eyes. Both can be fixed. I had that problem at Independence and coach Knox fixed it and come to find out I needed contacts for my vision.

A little surprising no one's done so for him to this point.

I'm really not sure why we're carrying 10 OL. Usually it's 9 and sometimes 8. We could surely cut one of them to make room.

I think the extra Olinemen is bc of need and the unknown of how they will do. I don't think it'll last long

Per his own words, Gettleman doesn't do position quotas.

 

Obviously you have to pay some attention to the numbers (i.e. can't keep four offensive linemen) but beyond that his practice is to keep whomever he feels are the best 53.  That's why when you see team transactions, the addition/subtraction isn't always from the same position group.

Yep.  Hey, if that's the problem... he can definitely be coached up, if he's coachable at all.

He is trying to catch the ball with his peripheral vision. His eyes are locked at around 5 to 10 feet up the trajectory of the throw. At that point he seems to want to see the ball with the corners of his eyes instead of seeing it in. It means he's trying to see too much of the field. He's trying to track other things on the field when the ball is in the air.

 

This is not quite what Tiquan looked like. I felt Tiquan flat out just looked lazy with his technique, like he was gonna make the catch anyway. This guy appears to be trying hard, he just doesnt quite have it down yet. Its amazing that many of his coaches, I've read so far, wanted to work on his route running. That seems to be pretty good, but somewhere along the line they just assumed he would perfect that part of his catching technique and may have forgotten it or put it on the back burner. We'll see how much better he's gotten soon I guess.

We already signed Hill, and I have super high hopes for him, but he is a project.  Hill needs A LOT of work to get where he needs to be and this has been mentioned many times.  IF we lose Hill (we won't), it won't be because of Bersin.  Stop making this a Bersin/Hill debate, step back from the ledge and look over the roster...you don't see anyone else that we could pare off the roster to make room for Hill AND Bersin?

Juggling uses peripheral vision. If you stare at a point were your hands and the objects are In your peripheral and don't follow the objects just keeping your eyes still your body finds the objects faster. It's pretty cool. Though how helpful that is in football idk

Well you can see where the other defenders are out of the other corners of your eyes at the same time.

 

I would only ever do this if the catch was literally a gimme. You dont do this when youre 20 yards up the field.

i didnt want Hill. thought he was too much of a project. that said, now that he is here, i am hoping that Proehl can coach him up and make a No 2 or No 3 out of him.

 

for 566K, i dont mind seeing what kind of upside the kid may have

I'm right there with ya man.  For the price, might as well see what we can get outta him, if he busts, no worry atall.  He's not even taking up a roster spot at this point, I think that counts as a win/win/win.
