Sorry for having an opinion that is different from yours and having reasons to back mine up?

Chud was as good as gone after week 6 in Cleveland.

Would have been gone after week one if hired here in Carolina.

I respect you as a Huddler and a fan but Chud is Obama incompetent.

Chud was put into a losing situation (like obama) where there is not much you can do. No matter what happens you dont have enuff time to correct all the problems that are wrong with this team. Chud got a year where he wasnt even there for the draft didn't get to get his guy and was told to go out there and win.

All I'm saying is as an offensive coordinator he produced points which is what he is suppose to do. Hate his play calls or not our offense was prolific at times. If your averaging over 23 points a game and still losing you can't fault the offense.

Here's the way I think it went down...

No one was willing to put Hill on their active roster and pick up his full year's salary at $700,000+.

Knowing the above, Gettleman agrees to keep him around for at least a week at basically zero risk, giving us time to evaluate whether or not he might be a fit. This implies that DG and coaches will probably need to make a decision on him over the next week, because following week 1, it would only cost a team 3 game checks and a roster spot to bring him on board. I just can't see the practice squad thing lasting very long. Someone is going to want to take a chance on him at minimum wages. Either way, whether we promote him or we lose him, don't expect to see Hill as a long term member of our practice squad. He and his agent both know this is the case, making the practice squad signing more palatable.

And by the way, there's nothing that says he is only earning $6300 a week as a member of our PS. That is the minimum, but clubs can and do pay more depending on the circumstances.

Just one last comment....Chud sucks.

I would give it more than a week.  If any team was going to grab him at what he is now they would have.  The wages on the practice squad is a minimum and I agree it probably is more than minimum.

I am sure the practice spies will be out in force evaluating him from a distance.

Here's my question.  If someone tries to claim him, do we have the opportunity to activate him or do we automatically lose him?

We have a set time period (like 48 hours) to match the other team's offer, or he's gone.

You would think since we too the flyer on him, he would want to stay here.  I am of the opinion that Proehl is going to teach him things.

You don' think KB got good overnight without some tricks of the trade from Proehl?  I just remember how good of possession receiver he was.  He could get open.  16 yrs think says it all.   He probably has the second most greatest catch in Panther history.   Win against Jacksonville second only to Steve Smith's OT winning catch against STL.

If he could somehow show that NYJ was a bad spot for him.  We could end up with a tandem as good as any.

There's a big difference between committing $700,000+ to sign him prior to week 1 and committing less than $100,000 to sign him off our practice squad after week 1.

Why only $100,000? Because they only have to keep him around for 3 weeks at what would likely be the minimum for a 3rd year player, then if it doesn't work out they can say goodbye with no further obligation.

And as to our rights to match, are we sure that's the case? I always heard that if the player accepts the other team's offer to join their 53, it's a done deal. Maybe someone has a reference on this subject, but I couldn't find anything.

Logistically speaking it makes perfect sense.   I am not the expert on the PS rules and who and when someone can steal them.  I would think if he got an opportunity I would hope he would turn to the Panthers and ask if they could match.

You never know.
