Stephen Hill signs to Panthers Practice Squad

Ricky will get him straight.   I have no doubt.

You can thank his agent for knowing Proehl..  I think without that connection Hill rejects the practice squad.

Here's the way I think it went down...

No one was willing to put Hill on their active roster and pick up his full year's salary at $700,000+.

Knowing the above, Gettleman agrees to keep him around for at least a week at basically zero risk, giving us time to evaluate whether or not he might be a fit. This implies that DG and coaches will probably need to make a decision on him over the next week, because following week 1, it would only cost a team 3 game checks and a roster spot to bring him on board. I just can't see the practice squad thing lasting very long. Someone is going to want to take a chance on him at minimum wages. Either way, whether we promote him or we lose him, don't expect to see Hill as a long term member of our practice squad. He and his agent both know this is the case, making the practice squad signing more palatable.

And by the way, there's nothing that says he is only earning $6300 a week as a member of our PS. That is the minimum, but clubs can and do pay more depending on the circumstances.

Just one last comment....Chud sucks.

Let's see. Calling cute plays when you only need a few yards or calling 20 yard passes when you only need a couple? Which is better?

Your own personal hate of chud doesn't make him a bad offensive cord. Fact, under chud top 10 offense. was he perfect? no. But a brilliant offensive mind he was. You don't get a promotion because you suck. Someone else has to see something good in you as well. Chud maybe be the best offensive mind we've had in carolina(debatable). Chud challenged cam and maybe hurt or made grow up faster. I to this day believe chud would be a better head coach than Ron.

Chud atleast had some kind of identity or plan. Ron became riverboat out desperation which made me believe he's just throwing poo to the wall to see what sticks. Now with that said im happy about our team and Ron's success, but i'm still not sold on him being a good head coach.

I still dont understand why they cut him. They traded up to 43 to get him, they play him and he's not bad. He gets crap QB's to throw to him while battling some knee issues and now he's gone. They said his route running isnt that bad and even though I saw most of his catches being made to the body, he also made some catches with his hands nicely. Hes a lot more coordinated and technically sound than a project guy like Gettis. No comparison.

Some guy named Salas is better as well as bunch of other dudes that apparently play ST's. I mean. .40inch vert 11.1 broad jump - lol  Ok we'll take em.

So you say chud hurt cams development and in the same breath say he would be a better head coach than Ron? This is just silly.

I say that because it seems even cam himself doesn't know when asked about it. He says chud made it more difficult for him because of how complexed the offense was and didn't simplify things. But he also says it forced him to grow up faster. So I don't know one way or another so I go with the old adage what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
