JJ Watts gets 6yr 100 million contract!

I can be a homer too, but let's be real here. Hardy is not in the same league as J.J. Watt. He will not command the same kind of deal.

And for those worried about Luke's deal, MLB's don't get paid like top defensive ends. Some positions carry more value than others. So Luke will get a big deal, but it will still probably be $6 million or more per year below Watt's.

They can't pay both Hardy and C.J top money and no franchise can unless they gut the team to do so.Hardy is a much bigger risk then C.J at this point. If he should lose his jury trial then what? Also appears to be much more of a problem child. Hardy is all about the money period and has said as much..We will keep C.J.They drafted a quality DE to keep the line stout in the future.

We are NOT paying CJ that ridiculous cap number next year. Good as he is he aint worth it either. If you do it to one you do it to both. There isn't a jj watt on this team period.

See the writing on the wall.Kony Ealy was drafted to fill the gap when Hardy walks next year.No way D G is paying him anywhere near that kind of money.

Cam has to be paid.

Then Luke.

Then Star.

Yeah, Hardy's next contract is not gonna be a concern of the Carolina Panthers.

Best player on a team that won 2 games and in the worse division in football. Doesn't say much. It's funny, on that same team, they picked another DE(Clowney) as the #1 overall pick. They will use Clowney to pad his stat and promote the heck outta him because he fits a certain profile.

And more dumb....

Hopefully he will restructure and move the money around to help the cap.Regardless what C.J does...Hardy won't have a locker next year.

Watts just set the new standard for contracts for top DEs in the league. So if Hardy get not guilty verdict in court next off season and he has another 10+ sack season on top of it. Expect Hardy to be money hungry and ask for even more then that when he tries to suck the Panthers dry again. You just wonder if Panthers will let him go after this season. We know Hardy and his agent will do anything to get more money in a contract then Watts got. Don't be surprise if another team offers Hardy near QB type money. It is insane.

Yeah well someone else can have him.

You genuinely believe the organization would've given a guy $13 million for one season if they knew he would've been charged with domestic abuse and possibly be facing a 6 game suspension down the road?

I genuinely believe you are putting to much weight upon the charges.

Most teams stick by their players over any first time trouble, specially if they a a key producer. Which Greg definitely is.

I dont see a guy that has already been in trouble for a 2x and youre out offense in the NFL,  getting anywhere close to the money Watt got.   Guilty or not , Hardys immaturity and lack of good sense has tainted him.  Its going to be hard to shake the image of an unstable person and 1 season isnt going to do it.

It isn't him that is putting too much weight on the charges, it's the NFL. They have made Domestic Violence one of the most serious violations of the conduct policy. It might be harsh, but it's the policy now. If a guy gets suspended once for it he's suddenly on the hook for a lifetime suspension. Teams would be taking a huge risk on a player in that situation.

I didn't mind the Ealy pick when it happened but it seems even better now.

A year ago I would have bet money that our plan was to sign Hardy to a long term contract and let CJ go next year.  With everything that has happened since I have my doubts that it will play out like that.

It is easy to look back and say we should have traded Hardy when his value was at its highest but I understand why we franchised him.  You can make the argument that he is one of the best young players in the league at his position, a position that is considered one of the most valuable on the field.  Those are exactly the type of players we should be trying to build around.  Unfortunately things don't always play out like you hope.
