Huddle prediction: who will win and why....

On this Labor day and the premier of "Houdini"on History channel tonight. let's see what kind of magicians and soothsayers we have here in the Huddle. Most on here know this team very well...it's strengths and its weakness on both sides of the ball. Playing a retooled Bucs away won't be easy. What will the final score be...and give a comment on how YOU think the offense and defense will do. This team has not won an opening season game in many moons.....can they do it in 2014?

We will win because we have a better coach and better players at every position except Safety and one of the Guards (probably, not going to anoint Turner or Amini over old man Mankins yet).  I think the offense will start off slow, one TD in the first half due to a short field and we'll all have our panties in a twist and then they'll open it up and play well in the second half.  The defense will dominate from the kickoff allowing one field goal in the first half and a garbage time TD.  Final score: 24-10.

edit to add score.

I see a loss due to an offense that isn't clicking right away, injuries, dwill taking his usual 3-4 games to get started, stew getting injured, and history. I see the defense still doing well and not allowing more than 21 points of not less so I don't think it will be a blowout. At the end of the day I feel special teams and a bad online is going to be the blame for the loss.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
