I think he will become practice squad material.  We will pick up a player and he will be one of the ones we drop. Then we'll move him to the practice squad.  Glad to see he has come a long way.

This. I watched some stuff on him after we picked him up as an undrafted FA and he has impressive feet and understands how to use leverage to stonewall defenders. I'd like to see him get a look at RT. He has the size and agility for it.

They can't "stash" him because they're afraid he will get sniped. He's gonna get IR'd unless he's really that good to make the team.

On the last preseason game the analyst mentioned that most of our OL is made of UDFAs. Mediocrity, accomplished!

Why? The more players that get IR'ed, the more players get paid. This would be the exact opposite of something that the players union would be bothered about. If each team stashes 2 or 3 players on the IR, you're talking about roughly 100 more jobs on NFL active rosters being made available.

 

Foucault looked like hot garbage to me this preseason. He has little noodle arms and he got put on rollerskates numerous times against weak competition. If they're hoping that those issues will go away once he gets more strength training in then by all means give him a shot, but I see him as a practice squad caliber player. Being big as hell is only half the battle. I like his athleticism but I don't think he has the demeanor or the strength to play in the NFL any time in the near future.

 

Norwell was significantly better and I have zero problem with his inclusion on the roster. It was clearly merit based.

draft OGs mid round. don't draft OTs. just find someone nobody is thinking about and pick him. maybe if we keep on picking up poo and flinging it at the wall, something will stick. at this point i think it's trying to be that team that can say "hey! we got a good line and guess what? we picked them up for cheap! DIRT CHEAP!"

 

we may have scored with a couple of these guys, but until we see them perform well in actual games i think it's all just a bunch of hoping that our lack of effort to bolster the OL doesn't get our FRANCHISE QB killed.

Hasn't this been the same way since we had Hurney, though? Hit the 1st round pick big time, 2nd round is questionable (Hurney was baaaaaaaaad in the 2nd round), draft some scrub RB in the late rounds, then maybe, MAYBE pick up a tackle from the UDFA or in the 7th round. 

 

I think we've taken Kalil and Gross for granted for so long, that everyone in our organization is like, meh, it'll work itself out because it has before. Guess what, Gross is no longer there. Kalil is aging. We have an amazing QB in the prime of his career? Oh well, let's hope that the offensive line can gel by week 8!

Congrats to them. I figured Norwell had a good chance due to his versatility and experience throughout college. I am surprised he wasn't drafted in the 6th/7th round.

Foucault making the team is very good news. He has a lot to learn and had no American football experience. I thought he was going to have to go on the practice squad for a year before he had a chance to make the roster. This shows how quick he can learn. Add some weight and this kid could grow into our future tackle.

I remember hearing how raw he was at the beginning of training camp, great to see how far he's came.
