Final Panther cuts 8-30-2014

Yeah, if we don't add any help at WR, which I anticipate, I'm really hoping that Dickson and Williams make the difference.

I expect KB to have an awesome year, but it just irritates me when the FO let Smitty go when he still could've helped us AND then completely neglected the position outside of KB. Yes, I know we signed Avant and Cotch, but to me, those are the equivalent of NBA teams signing 40-year old vets to show the kids how to be a pro. Not great football moves, IMO.

BUT, I digress... back to the cuts, lol.

Why do people still not understand the Smitty cut? Keeping him this year would've picked up an option for the 2 years after that with absolutely ridiculously absurd cap numbers. If there had been better communication between Smitty and the FO I think it would've been possible to keep him without the 2 years after this year, but the blame for that falls equally on Smitty (and also on Hurney for giving him the contract). It was 100% the right move for the future.

While playing with Big Ben, Antonio Brown, Emannuel Sanders, Heath Miller, and Levion Bell as the RB.

Nicks had Eli playing like crap, was injured, had no RB, and only Cruz as the other legitimate recieving threat.

I take Big Ben looking for Cotchery in the redzone as a plus not a negative. Sure, because of all the other targets around him he could work one on one without extra coverage, but it still says something that Big Ben looked to him so often.

Look, you know Nicks is more talented than Cotchery, I know it too, I'm just saying that at this point we have no proof that Gettlemen made the wrong decision, especially when you add Avant

We have to be targeting an OG/T from the other teams' cuts.  No way we roll with our current depth.  Velasco is strong depth but that's about it.

Safety is still frightening but I'm cool with our receiving corps.  I REALLY wanted King to make the team but whatevs.  Sh*t happens, decisions have to be made.

He didn't exactly outperform them. He was just thrown to more. There is a big difference. Cotchery and Avant have been successful in the league for a long time. They aren't exactly scrubs. If you really think that, then you know nothing about football and probably shouldn't comment.

Cotchery has averaged 35 catches a year over the past 5 seasons- less than LaFell or Ginn had last season. And he got 5 years @ $8M. One (1) catch this preseason...

Avant has more catches, stays healthy, but doesn't score and he gets 1 year, $1M. Preseason: also 1 catch, 25 yards.

"He didn't exactly outperform them. He was just thrown to more."

Receivers catch passes. Their entire career is based upon catching passes. King caught 6, 3 times as many as Coitchery and Avant together. Maybe because he gets open? Faster? Better hands? Caught passes? How the fug is that not outperforming?

With Boston and Lester going to IR look for us to bring in another safety... Preferably a veteran. We can't rely on Harpers toe and our backups at the position arent going to cut it if one of our starters go down.
