Is Cam Newton Really A Franchise QB

But at the same time, every team and fan base wants / desires an elite qb.

they say that, but they really want/desire is a big time player that can put a game on their back and turn it into a win, which is exactly what we have in cam.

i will put cam up against any of the top 3 "elite" QBs in the league. he may not be the most fundamentally sound, but he doesn't need to be to make things happen.

he's gotten better every year and he came out of the gate breaking records right and left. he's just now coming into his own and also making the team his. last year we won 12 games because the defense was able to keep the scores down and cam was able to make some late game comebacks.

this year we will see the defenses dominance continue and now the rise of cam with his giant/sure-handed receiving core and we will win games by a significant spread, regardless of who the OC is and how bad the OT's are.

we have two of the best young players in the game w/ cam and keek and we will see our franchise at the top of the league with consistency largely because of the effect of those two young men on the game and their team.

You just don't get my point but I don't blame you. What I mean is Cam would be a real franchise qb if he wins more playoffs but I don't mean a qb is a franchise qb if he wins some playoff games.

I guess this is too difficult for you to understand but just like I said I don't blame you on this.

franchise QB = winning some playoff games

and

franchise QB ≠ winning some playoff games

????????????

i don't blame him for not getting your point, either.

"Is Cam Newton really a franchise quarterback? What a question!! What is ridiculous?...The preceding question. Tell you what. Put Cam up on the trading block and you will see what the league thinks regarding this Stupid inquiry!!! (I simply cannot believe some of you...short bus riding whatever the hell you are!!!)

Cam has more total yards, more TD's, a better QB rating and less turnovers than both of the top 2 qb's in league during their 1st 3 years starting

So far Cam is headed towards being the GOAT.  I'd consider that being a franchise QB.

It's funny how this forum responds to any negative criticism of Cam. All of OP's thoughts are reasonable.

Agreed. Cam can be very streaky and dont get me started on his deep sideline throws that he always overshoots and rarely gets completed, also the countless times his sacks have taken out us out of FG range. Im by no means saying hes a bad QB, hes just not the 2nd coming of Manning like people on here think.

and manning will sometimes throw a wtf duck and looks like a statue in the pocket, but he's perfect right?  I'm not sure if you guys are joking or what.

I am just looking at some old games ( 2012 and 2013). Looking at him, his is still making and struggling with the same issues. I know I shouldn't, but I always compare every QB to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, they hardly get sacked. This is not because their O-lines are that great, but because they feel when pressure is near. Cam is still getting sacked when sometimes he can avoid. It is still frustrating to see him as a thrower. He is an extremely inconsistent and streaky. His mechanics are poor with him throwing off his back foot and unbalanced causing the ball to sail high. I guess is this why they drafted the 6'5'' Kelvin B. I tend to wonder if the front office is sold on him as the future , because Im not. This has to be his make or break year. Love Cam as a person, the best thing that could happen to the Charlotte area, but not my choice for the future. I really like Blake Bortles , I see the Jags going somewhere with him. Thanks for your views and replies.

this is not a serious post ...troll alert
