Ron Rivera: Hot Seat?

I feel like he is on the hot seat if we go 4-12 or 5-11.  That would be if Cam was healthy.  If Cam got hurt and we had that kind of record I think there would be more of a tolerance for a bad season.

Why?

His first year here we were 10th in yards and 11th in points per drive....and went 12-4. Also were 7th in least TO per drive. With a weak OL, average traditional rush attack, and average WRs.

 

It's not really about his stats even though our offense regressed as some pointed out.  

 

If we do poorly, Cam isn't going anywhere soon, same with Rivera who's coming off CotY, and Gettleman is still working himself out of Hurney-hell.  If we underperform, Gettleman and Rivera won't be the scapegoats quite yet.  Shula is the easy target that may have to bite the bullet.  I'll admit it's possible we miss the playoffs and keep the entire staff in tact.   

 

29th in passing and 3.87 ypc running outside of Cam is pretty bad no matter how you frame it.    

 

Next offseason Gettleman will have more room to work with and I hope our offense trends upward this season.  Shouldn't be hard but if we don't, that's concerning.

Yea I can see Ramsdell getting a good shot in the very near future.

He seems more of a hands-on QB and WR coach.  A general offense guy who seems to be in good offenses and situations the majority of the time.  It's unknown how well he could do in a coordinator role.

 

I think just having him and Proehl working with our offense is great for the young guys.

He has been associated with some great offensive minds. I have to wonder why he has never gotten an OC job. Either he doesn't want it or folks making decisions know something that fans calling for him to be OC don't.

Did the head coach let every WR on the roster walk, leaving Cam with an entire roster of new guys?

Was the head coach trying to make us all believers of Byron Bell?

Did the head coach give those ridiculous deals to the RBs?
